Okay, I have a choice. I non-stick, or a stainless steel.
I threw out all of my cheap non-stick because I read that when they chip, the teflon can get into your body when you cook something. So for quite a while, I've been using stainless steel (and using one of those olive oil no stick sprays.) But I need a good BIG frying pan. I looked up the cephalon and there's a new one and (I forget the name of it) but it's guaranteed safe and to be no stick for the life of the pan. So what would ALL of you buy if you wanted a really good fry pan. Thanks much. (this is my christmas present) lol

This is a bit OT but when I stack my pans in the cupboard, I put towels in between them. This has helped cut down on the scratching of the teflon and having to replace the pans. I still buy cheap pans but they last longer. Sorry I can't help you decide on a really good pan.

That's a good question...I'm in the same boat. The Olhipie knows I need new cookware and he asked me the other day which I wanted. I know that I'm ruff on my pans and the non-stick can get bad on me pretty fast.
However, I do like the non-stick.

Best frypan I ever have owned is called "Hard Anodised". It's a Jamie Oliver frypan. (this is not an ad. lol ) It has stay-cool metal handles although I don't ever trust that idea and use an oven mit anyway. It can go from the top of the stove to the oven to finish off a dish.
I forget what it cost now, but it wasn't cheap to me. If I was buying a huge set I'd not afford it, but it was worth it to get such a good hard wearing pan. I hope it doesn't have any bad chemicals in it, because I like it too much. |

I would go with one made by Circulaon.
They are great pans (as well as pots and skillets). I use them everyday. -Vic |

I have switched to stainless steel and enamel coated pans Mel
The copper bottom stainless steel pans are excellent for all kinds of cooking and I use the enameled one to fry eggs etc. the fact that Dupont have promised the EPA to phase out the PFOA's in their non stick Teflon coating by 2015 is enough to make me feel there is some credence to the danger theory http://jscms.jrn.columbia.edu/cns/20...howbadisteflon
