Hi Sue!! I'm glad to see you here....join right in! Chocolate will get you a long way with this group!! Even farther than money, I think!! I see you're a night owl just like lots of us here are! I'm up sometimes throughout the night....just don't always log onto the computer 'cos I know if I do I'll be here all night!

It's gonna be a rainy few days here....just saw the weather forecast (Barb I thought of you when I saw it!! ) and it's pretty damp looking. Makes my spasticity act up something awful. But....I'll take it over the heat any day.

Frank, I wish I had about 1/3 of your energy. I'm proud if I get one load of laundry washed, dried, folded and put away!

Janie....feel better soon and take care of yourself!

Sarah....between you and Frank I need a nap just reading about all ya'll do in a day!

Speaking of laundry.....I LOVE the homemade laundry detergent I made! RW's posted the recipe here a few times and I got the whole kit for about $30. That will keep me stocked with laundry detergent for a year!! The cost.....about 3.5 cents a load. And the fabric softener I made costs about .02 cents per load. Can you tell I'm a wee bit excited about all this?

Today's the day my son interviews for the position he's been coveting for a long time.....hostage negotiator. He studied his notes for a long time last night and did a lot of work on the computer. He'll still keep his current position....just add the negotiator part to it. He says this will promote his career and also mean a pretty hefty raise. I asked him if he could talk me into sticking to my diet......he told me it was a position for a negotiator not a miracle worker!!

Well, time for more coffee. Ya'll have a super day!!

Good Morning!
Uggh..I'm not a perky person in the morning, but I try ..
Have to be on my way to work pretty soon, just wanted to say: Barb, it's 8 below right now ~ don't even get me started on the wind chill..
I think weather obsession is common in the midwest, especially in the winter..
Enjoy the day!

Weather obsession is mandatory here, it's a state law (I think). Anything more (less?) than ten below, and all the old-timers come into the Post Office and say "what did you have last night?" and they don't mean for supper. Only they say it like "jew hev last night?"

The way you reply reveals whether or not you are really "from around here". If you are one of us, you kind of shrug and nonchalantly say "Seventeen, out back." You can't use the word "below" because that's a given and makes you sound like "summer people", "flatlanders", or "city folk".

If you have a digital thermometer, round it off to the next lower degree. If you say "16.8" people will smirk at you behind your back. If it's 16.8, you say "Seventeen". If it's between 16.5 and 16.8 you say "about seventeen."

And you can't just give the number, you have to qualify it somehow, by following it with "out at the barn", "when I got up", or "last I looked". That's so people don't think you're trying to set yourself up as official or anything.

Finally, if you have the lowest, you always throw the rest a bone, so to speak, so no one thinks you're stretching it or trying to one-up everybody else (which, of course, you are). You pause a couple of seconds and say, "'Course, we're across the river."

Weather obsession is practically an art. Tomorrow I'll give you lessons on reporting snow accumulation and moose spotting.

I may need that snow reporting B2Y. It's in the low 30's here in North Texas. The freezing rain started about 20 minutes ago.

Naturally I have to drive the kids to school this morning.

Sue, I agree with the others. Chocolate's a winner. Welcome to the thread.

B2Y, LOL. Totally understand that there's different "weather speak" for each area. Where I grew up, it wasn't the temps but the length of time it took to shovel out the driveway. Now I live in an area where more than an inch causes everyone to start with the "can you believe how much it snowed?" (Man, am I spoiled now)

AZ, rest up and hope you feel better soon.

Kelly, cool beans about the homemade laundry detergent. Sorry to hear about the spascity acting up.

Sarah,

~~~~~~~~~
Good morning all. Cup of coffee in hand and trying to wake up.
Got a dentist's appointment later this morn. Hate going, but needs done. Will probably go get the ol' hair done afterwards as a pick me up.
Weather changes made last night a not so restful one. The attack of the spasms. Found some new muscles I didn't know I had, LOL!
Hope everyone has a good day today.
Welcome newcomers! Jump in any ol' place. We are a friendly bunch. Just hang on tight as this thread moves faster than the speed of light at times.
Well the guy went back to work today and the boy went back to school. That means two less bodies under my feet and in my hair. Other wise known as... getting something done around here just got a lot easier.
Speaking of getting something done... My loose agenda for the week is to finish planning and start execution. I have a beautiful goal in mind and I refuse to attach a deadline to it. Daily progress will be my yardstick to success. Joy over completion and enjoyment of end results should be a great motivator.
Lots to do and times a wastin'! Ready, set, gone
I'm back . . . !
Oh man! It is going to take me days to catch up with you all. I haven't read everyone's posts. I'm just going to start anew.
We had a great time traveling over the New Year's Holiday. The motorhome worked great and it was good to see friends and family.
Unfortunately, it is now time to get back in to daily living.
I hope you all have a good day!
