It is -8 here, and has not stopped snowing for more than a couple minutes since Sunday.

I'm glad we decided against a haircut for the dogs. They need all the fur they grew. The Poms are plenty furry to run out and potty quick, but the Papillon has to wear a coat. Lemme tell ya, they don't goof around, they get the business done and get back inside.

Default I remember the blizzards of the Midwest!!

After 40 cold miserable Winters in Iowa and Ohio we decided when we retired we were moving to Arizona.

We still get some cold weather but no blizzards other than the terrible 4" of snow our first Winter here when schools and business' all over town were shut down.

We listened to the radio announcer talk about the heavy snow and we were like HUH; bunch of Arizona wimps!!

Now DH and I ARE Arizona wimps and can't take the cold any more!

The snowbirds here are in short sleeves and talking about how wonderful the weather is and the rest of us are bundled up and freezing in 55 degree sunny weather!

Oh, B2Y, that forecast sounds painful! Stay in and stay warm!
Brain, sometimes I think dogs are smarter than people. My llahsa went out just long enough to pee & came running back in to keep his toes from freezing. My daughter got him snow boots for this winter, but when he's gotta go, he's gotta go NOW, so no time to put his boots on ..
Hey Frank! Only 9 below? I'm jealous, 13 below here. Looking foward to the warm-up they're calling for, saying tonight will be the last of this brutally cold weather for at least a few days..
Alffe, I hope your dh gets home safely (and on time!)..
Soxmom, 6 degrees is still very cold..I feel for you!
AZjanie, I know what you mean. We grew up in Colorado, which has it's share of cold temps, but really a pretty good climate. My brother moved to Oklahoma a couple years ago and laughed when everyone got their jackets out & complained about the cold at 55-60 degrees..Now, he IS one of those people..
Hope everyone stays warm & dry!

AZjanie, My sis moved from northern Ohio to southern Texas around 1978 and she is like you as far as weather is concerned. She now thinks 60* is kinda cold & wears a sweater. Then at 50* she wears a jacket. Back in her hometown (here) we look forward to the 1st time the temp gets to 50* (in April).

Right now it's -2* and chill factor is -21*. I went out in the backyard today & put a ruler in the snow on the picnic table and the snow came to 9 inches. There's a wind chill advisory in effect.

Would you like to go here

The severe wind chill warnings are only on until Noon today saturday. We are spending the afternoon and evening on Phila. I hope it is warming there.

I hope the crowds followed the Obama express too and town is not a traffic mess. Generally it is OK on the weekend.

TOmorrow starts snow again....we have about 8 inches from the last two storms, prior to that a 39* day and rain washed away the most from the mountain.

This was our pre-halloween snow.

I have to catch some deer or a bear for the next pic...
