I have been very angry about this entire thing.
It unerves me that this mom has such a unrealistic and irresponsible attitude and this doctor is so outrageously unethical.
Donny Osmond's comments on TV made me think about the children in a greater way.
I just have no clue as to how in the world to even begin to unravel this situation.
Surely, great sums of money will be needed to help care for the children, but I don't feel this mother should be allowed to be responsible for great sums of money.
I'm not even sure this mother should be raising these children at all!
Money is only part of the answer to this very complicated, almost tragic, situation.

Everyone talks about her 'stupidity' & the money it will take to raise 8 babies. True, but also remember the time it takes to properly raise Fourteen children. I think about what this action of hers will do to all the kids. She won't be able to give attention thus 'satisfy the needs' of each of them, for example she might take 'Billy' to baseball practice but then 'Mary' will have to miss ballet lessons and so on. As they get older it will be more stuff. Like, 'Jill's BF left & wants mom to lean on but mom just doesn't have the time for her because she has to deal with the 'fight' several of the kids are in. Ya get it? Those poor kids, that uncarring, selfish lady..

If she raises them WITHOUT the father, it's a whole different ball of wax. It's hard enough to raise one as a single mother, let alone 14. Her mom will get very tired very quickly. And friends and helpers will come and go.

If they all stay together (that is, if they give her a big house to raise them all in), then the older ones will probably raise the younger ones. That means, resentment built on resentment.

Or they can turn out like the Duggers. They've been conditioned from birth to help each other out.

We just have to wait and see.

I heard they are doing a television movie about this whole thing.

Very interesting.

Agreed, Lor, the time is the most major element in all this to me. Having come from a litter of only 6, as I get older, I marvel at how much work and order my parents were so committed to on a daily basis.

The proper attention will never be given to those children as individuals. Those intimate moments at bath time, changing times, feeding times, bed times, story times, and so on all will be discounted in the name of quantity.

It breaks my heart for those babies to think of how basic emotional needs will be necessarily neglected throughout their formative years.

It will be interesting to hear what child development experts foresee as the fundamental obstacles faced by these obviously disadvantaged little innocents.

I'm of the firm belief that humans are not built to raise wholesale batches of children. To me, this is a series of tragedies unfolding right before our collective eyes.

I have to say its hard to find enough time having 4 children....and its
two of us doing it and its still hard to find one on one time with each
child. I really cant imagine stretching myself thin enough for 14:(.

Here's the story,
Of a lonely lady
Who thought she could raise a team of six.

She then got bored
Brought out her frozens
And now the world is floored.

Now there's fourteen and a mom who's lost her mind
Taking calls and showing up on a million shows
All of them will suffer, don't you know it?
This whole story really blows.

Yes, it was an interesting interview. And what she told him as to why she wanted this is interesting as well. I'm not certain that she can tell the truth.

It sounds like he is having lots of troubles with his own family too.
