Spinal Disorders and Spinal Cord Injury are not intrinsic. It used to be that NeuroTalk had a sub-forum set aside for SCI. But, now, when I click on the SD forum, I see SCI is an "embed."
I think folks with SCI will not be using the forums much; the SCI forum was already being over-run by folks with SD; because one has a spinal disorder it does not mean that the cord itself has been compromised. Bye-bye SCI ... it's now wedged into SD ![]()

Lets see...all spinal cord injuries are spinal disorders but not all spinal disorders are spinal cord injuries. When I think of spinal cord injury I think of something that happened fast as in a car wreck..trauma to the spinal cord but then a slow growing tumor or stenosis are also spinal cord injuries?//maybe??

I'm around ... and if I don't know the answers, I will say so. I'd rather be honest than give you or anyone inaccurate info.
Too, if I don't know, it's always possible I can help look for info. that can shed some light ![]()

Thanks Bobbi!
Well, Basically, my MRI shows: (won't write the whole thing!, lol) *L4-5 and L5-S1 Intervertebral discs show minimal degenerative changes. *L4-5 there is minimal disc bulge noted centrally causing bilateral foraminal narrowing (more prominant then my exam in 11/06. Overall, signal intensity of interverebral disc at this level has decreased indicating progressive degeneration. *L5-S1 small central bulge *L3-4, L4-5 and L5-S1 Hypertrophic changes of the facet joints. I am only looking to see what your opinion is, nothing concrete of course ![]() On a different note, I wanted to tell you how much admire your strength after reading what you went through in your life. (on your BT post - I am not sure if I ever replied to that post, but have been meaning to...) I must admit, I cried for you, and all the other children this happened, or is happening to right now. I am sorry ![]() ![]() |

((( Thank you ))). That's very sweet of you, and... I could always enjoy having more friends.
I missed your post (here) earlier ![]() I do wonder, as well, how radiologists quantify the differences when they note minimal or severe. It could be that the films merely display "minimally" but... that's why a doctor's role is also so important. Physical effects also have a role in a doctor's assessment.

Yep..that Bobbi and several other people here nursed me through ACDF. Now that it has been over for quite a while, the trauma of the presurgery jitters and the recovery, my desperation back then has faded but remembered. This place was the only place I felt anyone had a clue as to what I was going through.
I cannot thank Bobbi and the others enough. Their experience, knowledge, caring, and concern was incredible. And Bobbi is a very special member of these forums. I think she goes over and beyond what most do to help. I could never be able to contribute the amount of help she does. Thanks Bobbi...once again. Now I've got to get off this heating pad and find something else to hurt my back. hehehe jb

JB, I don't want to add to anyone's confusion, that's for sure
![]() I recently had one of those infamous talks with one of my docs; the way she explained about SCI and SD is: Not everyone with SCI will also have SD (though people can have both). One will be primary; the other secondary. SCI is neurological. SD is orthopedic. Anywhoooooooooooo... I thought of you, JB, when I heard one of the authors speak about this book (and I'm picking up a copy for a friend's son, with his mom's okay, of course): "The Dangerous Book for Boys." I think: Pick up a copy for yourself. There's a reason, a really good one for why I'm suggesting you also get a copy and read it ![]()
