I had L5-S1 spinal fusion - spacer, bone graft & 2 screws. Up out of bed the next day, 1 week in hospital, age 24 (ish) when I had it done. Surgery was 2002, 7 weeks off work. I rested for a few hours a day on my back, done my exercises and did housework (although slowly). Only problem I have now is when I have been bending forward for too long - muscle problems (lack of it cos I am not too good at remembering to do the exercises nowadays!!)
I would definitely be requesting an appointment with your surgeon to follow up on this. Or seek a 2nd/3rd opinion. Perhaps you have fused, but there is an issue up or down a disk or two? Please see your dr or get a referral back to your surgeon ![]() |
