Default Lumbar Radiculapathy question

I have had right leg pain and weakness for 8 months now from a right para central protrusion at l5/s1 level. I am scheduled for micro discectomy on Friday, as of the last 2 weeks the pain and weakness has moved also to my left leg and foot Could this be caused by the same disc ? I am worried...
