So I slipped on water and fell on my coccyx near the ending of last year and been having problems since then. I have diminished sensation throughout my whole body, even experienced numbness and tingling on areas of my body (fingers, arms, legs, toes). I've lost muscle mass on my whole body (I would experience a numb and weird feeling on that body part before I loss the muscle mass on that area). I've been experiencing muscle pain throughout my whole body. I can't stay asleep (constantly waking up and I don't sleep long anymore) and i always wake up tired. I went to see a Chiropractor (before then, I saw a neurologist that detected no problems on my mri & x-ray). The chiropractor said I had a bit of a bulging disc and degeneration on my lower spine and a bit of arthritis on my neck. My x-ray showed that I had thoracic scoliosis. The chiropractor straightened my spine a good bit and helped relieve a lot of my muscle pain but I still have muscle pain, diminished sensation all over, numbness & tingling, and sleep problems.
Anyone have a clue what's wrong with me? It's been like 7 months. Since I've been like this. |

MRI and X-Ray don't always show the problem, they can often show things that cause us a great deal of worry because we now know they are there but in reality it's often normal deterioration that are causing you no discomfort at all. I'm not sure why you saw a neurologist, but it may be a typo or your GP felt it was necessary.
Maybe see a physio who has a working relationship with a good neurosurgeon for a 2nd opinion. I'm not overly find of chiropractitioners but that's because of a personal bad experience years ago who I initially thought had helped me, only to later learn he caused significant further damage. It may be that your fall triggered something else. Go back to your GP and ask them for a referral to a sleep specialist, a neurosurgeon and physiotherapist. You may have a developed a compression fracture and they can cause all sorts of discomfort including sleep difficulty. I hope you can get some answers and relief soon. Quote:

I'll admit that I went to a Neurosurgeon that I heard was good but he also said he didn't find anything wrong. He told me to see a Neurologist because it's not a brain issue or something that needed surgery.

Have a read of this article and see if anything sounds familiar. If it does speak again to your docs. Btw when I had my first compression fracture they ignored it then the following year when I fractured 3 of them, it took ages for them to diagnose it. It seems some bright sparks don't seem to think these fractures can cause much pain or discomfort so little attention is paid to them.

I'm not fond of orthopedic surgeons. One did surgery on my shoulder and managed to damage my brachial plexus, rendering my right arm >50% useless and resulting in RSD and severe pain. I was still working before I trusted that orthopedist, now I've lost my business. |
