I cannot find my previous post for my recent flare up. My PT believes my neck is causing my arms to feel like tennis elbow. I have always experience left sided pain bit was very tolerable. For a month and a half I have had a flare up to my extreme pain of handling it this is why I am in Physio. My right side is the worst feeling like really bad tennis elbow, exact same symptoms with the outer little bony structure is so very nerve sensitive. My Pt does not believe in tens or ultrasound. I am hoping to find someone that has experienced this for something I can do to relieve this. My pt does manipulate my neck and for an hour take the intensity away. It is a relief, and I do the chin exercises he gave me in between my 2 days a week with 2 sessions left. What am I going to do? My history: C5/6 disc fusion with plate,C4/5,C6/7 small disc protrusion, stenosis with moderate narrowing, and bone spurs. I had this ongoing for 10 years undiagnosed from complaining since 2002. I drove a forklift 8 years, with one day having a very sore neck, and both shoulders. I am used to my pains ongoing, but this flare up is my worst since Sept.28,2012 disc fusion. Is there a medication to help relieve this besides narcotics. I want to feel what is happening, not mask it. Yes,I do take pain meds.but not will to mask it more. I do not know what I can and cannot do to help this subside. My PT is talking central sensitization,I kind of agree to a point. This is a bad flare up that I am desperate to subside for almost 2 months now. I feel my right side is get worse, not better. I only have an hour relief from pt,and this manipulation he does, which I cannot do on my own,or I would. I am fearing after my last 2 sessions. I am trying to relax, ice, heat and I do put my tens on for it will not hurt. I ask him what I can take like Gabapentin, and he says no,but does agree with the narcotics' to relax me. Please someone help!!
I am in a desperate pain mode of relief of long term,I am grateful for the hour he does give. Also,he dis not want to see my MRI results I brought with me. I fear he is stuck in pushing this central sensitization mission he is studying and not really knowing what is going on. |

Some of what you mention might be partially thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) related. Our TOS forum has various posts on PT & therapies that may be helpful.. trigger point info- http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread125577.html useful links /info- http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread84.html main TOS forum- http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum24.html

Yes,thank you very much! I do not believe it is TOS. I believe something is going on in my neck. I did not have success with my Physio guy. He is all about central sensitization. He did not use laser,or tens. Mostly heat on my neck and a little manipulation and a lot of talking about the central sensitization. He also never wanted to look at any results I brought of what was going on in my neck with the MRI. I feel like I got the wrong physio person with no help. I am on disability and only get so many sessions. I just believe a nerve in my neck is being pinched to cause my both arms with mostly the right being so much like tennis elbow. I am looking for someone who may be experiencing or experienced the same. I moved my neck one day to the right talking to someone and felt something hurt bad.Ever since then I have had this. Neck pain, and left arm I am used to and can tolerate with proper meds. This pain is very new to me with what I am experiencing for almost 2 months. I am requesting nerve testing to see, plus another physiotherapist opinion. Thank you for your thoughts though to help

Have you been tested for carpel tunnel syndrome? I believe it effects the fingers and elbows. My neurosurgeon made an appt for me to specify cause of damage from cervical rupture.
