Still trying to deal with my niece's death. Someone stole the large silk flower arrangement that her mom had placed @ the grave site. The sitee hasn't settled enough for the headstone to be placed.

They don't place them over the head area any more.... They place a concrete slab across the dirt area and the marker goes on top of that. We are hoping the dirt settles soon...please let it rain!!! The head stone has been chosen and paid for..or should I say it was donated by a prominate area businessman who contacted the family and said he wanted to do this as long as we didn't tell who....

This is such a blessing!!! Family has been trying to come together, searching for $$$$, as headstones or gravemarkers are NOT cheap.

Mostly, I haven't been talking because I don't want to burden anyone with my grief and feelings.

You could never be a burden to anyone! You might check with the office of the folks who manage the cemetery. Sometimes decorations are removed to facilitate caretaking - sad to say.

I've been wondering the same, Barbo.

I've been sorting through some up and down times but nothing compares to what you're dealing with dearest (((((Abbie)))) and (((((Marshmallow))))) friends... I am so proud of both of you. Your words are never a burden as they help remind me how resilient you/we all are!

Abbie... I wish you peace... let go of the anger that this latest blow has dealt to you ... I've seen you do it, time and time again... and thank goodness for that wonderful donation - someone knew what it would mean to you all!

Marshmallow... I wish you even more strength than you already have! Bravo for standing proud and being who you are through all the challenges your family deals out to you!

I know there's a few of us who are really dealing with a lot right now... its understandable... our worlds, right before our eyes... are changing...
I think the economy and everyday news is exacerbating our already precarious situations...

That's why we usually fall silent.... we get a little overwhelmed...

I went to the dollar store and bought a good size bouqet of silk flowers then went next door to the garden shop and bought a small hanging basket.

I'm not the best but it looks nice. I have placed it back ok the shepherds hook and tightened it as tight as I could with the wrench I got from my dad's tool box. Now I just pray that no one takes this one!!!

We know it was taken by someone & not the caretakers because there are other sites with so much decorations on them that the caretakers just mow around them.
Now the site looks bright and a whole lot less lonely!!!!!!

I didn't have the money to do this but I needed to and I will work it out somehow, someway....

I've been quiet because I just don't know what to say right now; still dealing with the death of my father-in-law and everything that's happened following that. We've learned many unexpected things about him....amazing things that people hadn't shared with us...all really great things that we wish we'd known when he was alive. I'm certain, though, that his being a "hero" in other people's view would've embarrassed him horribly and he would've denied it all....but, still, we're proud of him. In the meantime, I spent two weeks in intensive care with my BFF....her husband has brain cancer and was having a terrible time. The nurses brought the two of us a bed...into his room...the first time since high school since we've shared a bed....I stayed awake the first night so that she could finally get some sleep. I realized that I was sharing a very sacred time there...his lungs were full of blood clots and the docs were certain that, if one moved, it would be the end for him....well, he finally did go home...but it's still bad. He's one strong, stubborn man, I'll give him that. And my BFF is stressed to the max; going to see her this weekend, I hope. In the meantime, I'm just wondering how this whole thing works and what my part is in it? Hubby and I got away last week and went to Colorado....just to do some thinking....the son (who was estranged, but ISN'T anymore..YAY!) is getting married next May....and we were on a fact finding mission for him....so exciting!!! So maybe there's a rainbow in this picture, after all!

I think your right Abbie about the caretakers not misplacing the marker. This past March my sweet Granddaughter Lakota Aspen was laid to rest in a special part of the Logan Cemetery called "Baby-land". Only infants are buried there. I know the sexton very well...he said that they don't touch a thing in Baby-land...everyone morns in a different way and he called it sacred ground! I hope all will be well soon for you niece's resting place.

Why I have been quiet?? I'm not sure...I feel a bit numb as far as my feeling go. To much going on...wish life would settle down a little bit.

I'm sorry that you had this extra concern Abbie when you already have such a burden to bear. Sending up prayers that your pain will soon begin to ease.

As for me? I was unable to type much for a few days due to a problem with my dominant hand but that's back to normal now so I really have no excuse. I do think about you all and I do come and read.....

I was going to close the door as I went out, but I'll leave it ajar for the next person. Hugs for the room.
