Default Cleaning out the house and it feels good!

It all started in my DD's room, then it started to spread. Today I finished cleaning out every room, closet, drawer and cupboard in the whole house. I have a pile to donate - it's not even going into the basement. I threw out a ton of stuff. The garbage men will love me tomorrow. Amazing what you can find in the back of your kitchen drawers!! I even painted a small book shelf that was badly in need of a fresh coat of paint. I spent almost 6 hours doing this today plus other stuff I had to do and I am just plain tuckered out right now.

Today at the store I bought a new computerized label maker. It's really cool and is so much fun! (Boy do I need a new hobby!!) It runs on battery and prints out the labels on tape. After I cleaned out all the small containers in my spare closet, I labeled them all. My DH was just rolling his eyes at me.

Tomorrow I will do the basement storage room - that is if I have any energy left. It won't be too bad but I want to label all the boxes and storage tubs so I know what's in them so I don't have to go through all of them for one thing.

After going through everything I have a better idea of what I have in the house. Plus I made more room and space for everything so I can use the things I had stuffed in the back of the closets and shelves. It feels good to have gotten rid of those things we never use any more.

I know why I have so much energy to do all this work. It's because I'm sick but it's only a head cold. Every time right before I get sick I go on a cleaning frenzy. Does this happen anyone else?

Whoa, Nellie! I hope you don't have to pay for your ambitious day tomorrow.

Wow! I wish I'd catch whatever it is you're coming down with, lol! I'll like a spurt of energy like that.

Come to think of it, I have gone into cleaning mode right before an illness a few times. Hope yours isn't serious or long-lasting, Karousel.

Thanks Twink - it's just a lousy head cold. But it got my house decluttered! I hope I won't pay for it tomorrow either.

Must be something in the air....I've been cleaning out closets and drawers, too! I think my reason is that my oldest son just moved out and I started with his room (cleaning and decluttering) and it just sort of morphed to other parts of the house. I'm planning on having a big garage sale in the next couple of months so I'm finding lots of things I can sell. I've been doing this for the past few days and it does feel so good to have a clean and organized house!

Wow, I hope it heads over to southern Indiana also. My DH is retiring Dec 1 and I hope to have the house clean by then so we can start out fresh and we can both keep it clean but I have some very bad habits to break first.

Having a date in mind works great. You have plenty of time so I wish you the best in getting it done. Mine was by the end of November (I'm way ahead of schedule!) because we are having Christmas this year. Too much clutter gets me stressed. Plus I knew I'd never find half the things we'd need to host it!!

Kitty - glad it's not just me!! Doesn't it feel great to get rid of all that stuff? I won't bother having a garage sale though because I vowed after our last one to never have another. We made a lot of money off our daughter's toys but our household stuff didn't sell so it's not worth the work for me to have another one.
