Default Perfect day for baking!

It is cold and very windy out. We have a wind advisory until tomorrow at 7 pm with gusts up to 60 mph. We did get some snow and I shoveled the heavy snow for 45 minutes this morning (no wonder I'm tired!).

So I figured today would be a good day to bake cookies. So 4 hours later, and 4 cookies later, I am finally done baking. I think eating 4 cookies in 4 hours while baking is a low record for me!! I am very proud of myself. I just need to get them in the freezer before I loose self control and eat more! I made two batches each of molasses, peanut butter and sugar cookies. Now I just need to finish cleaning up but kind of lost my umph.

That sounds delicious and warm, and I thought of doing that, too...but it's so windy here, we're almost counting on the power going out, especially if we have freezing rain. I would just get something in the oven and PFFT! off would go the power.

Plus I'd eat more than 4 cookies.

I made hot water and poured it into some powdered apple cider mix.

It was yummy. Wish I had some chocolate chip cookies to eat with it tho... (mom ate them all) I'm just too lazy to get the brick of cookie dough out of the refrigerator and breaking it apart and putting it in the oven.

I still have more packets of cider, so I might make the cookies later when I'm not so lazy or tired. (recovering from some alien lifeform that took up residence in my lungs over the weekend...the antibiotics are killing whatever it is)

I'm willing to bet that my aunt spent her day baking (she lives across the street from me) I wonder if she has any cookies? But that would mean I have to walk thru the 6 foot snowdrifts that are in the middle of our street to get to the cookies.

Erin...totally worth fighting off frosty for some fresh out of the oven goodies!

As for me....I am making jerky! We also bought stuff to make DD's favorite snicker brownies with marshmallows...but we were stuffed after the apple stuffed cornish hen gigantic dinner we made tonight.

Jerky is drying....very slowly...... for some reason it never comes out right for me in the dehydrator

I was going to get the cookie dough out, but I got too interested in watching Criminal Minds and finishing a hat that I was crocheting. Hat's done, and it actually looks good. No pattern, just made it up out of the dark recesses of my mind.

I guess I can make cookies later.

I used to go nuts - I have about 8-10 faves and would do up a couple batches of each. Last couple of years, I'd put aside a couple days, mix and form them but freeze most and only bake as needed. That was THE way to go!

They all did just fine freezing on a cookie sheet and stored in either a freezer bag, a clean plastic coffee can or big ice cream tub. Separate layers with wax paper.

Today I did more baking. We baked the walls to our gingerbread house and baked some peppermint chocolate cookies that we've never made before. Keeping my fingers crossed that they come out tasty. Tomorrow we make the house and put the peppermint chocolate frosting on the cookies.

Cooking is getting easier as my DD gets older. She does a lot of the work so physically it's easier. She also helps me keep everything organized so it's easier mentally. And then I get to spend tons of time with her. Today we baked while dancing to Christmas music!
