Or not. Can you feel "trapped" inside, and not want to leave the house at the same time? Well, duh, of course you can, because I do.
It's getting toward that time of year when seasonal affective disorder is pandemic, and I got infected with that. I guess I would also have cabin fever, since I haven't even been out the door since Monday (rare for me) but I scared myself pretty good the last time I was out, so now I'm trying to figure out how long I can avoid going back out. We had freezing rain, then snow, and the next day I went chugging over to the post office with my yaktrax and trekking poles. The trouble is, the trekking poles would skid on the ice and I'd almost tip over. ![]() Now I think I'd rather be "stuck" inside than sitting on my butt in a parking lot waiting for the ambulance to get there. So I'm a chicken. So what? *sigh*

ME ME ME!!!
OMG you nailed it! i really want to get outta here, but its snowy, and messy out, and with school vacations still in effect, and all the ski bums headed this way, its crowded in any place you can think of. I want to stay in, and enjoy my warm comfortable home, but then I look around and see all the projects that need doing, and its stressful. I want to go out, but I want to stay in!

Look through these links to see if you can find a gripper for the trekking poles
http://www.google.com/search?q=cane+...e7&rlz=1I7GWYE Hope that helps! It's hard to figure out how to travel on foot in the winter and there has to be a solution! I'm even thinking that hardware stores might still sell a thing that fits over chair stringers when they come loose that you can bend around them and hammer into the hole, that may be able to be bent around the tip of the poles to help. They look like a rasp and have 4 "ears' that bend around the chair rail, you might be able to adapt them for poles and they would be removeable. I almost think they used to be sold by Lillian Vernon or Harriet Carter or one of those catalogues that sell everything in the world, but I haven't seen them for awhile. I bet AMN might have a fix for something like this!

My mental illness is better than yours....I'm stuck inside and I don't wanna go out.

Hmm, I have those grips on my various canes, never thought of seeing if they'd adapt to the trekking poles. Worth a shot. I have better balance with trekking poles than with two canes, something about my posture (or lack thereof).

I want out of here too, but I also dont want to leave the safety of my bedroom. (because if I go upstairs, my mom who is constantly complaining or yelling at me and my dad will probably yell at me.)
Plus, my new desk is almost finished, (desktop gets installed tuesday, and my bookcase and crown molding come the next day) and once it's finished, I'm going to have a blast getting my computers all set up and my tv hung on the wall, and I'll finally have a place to put my sewing machine and sew things. (going to Hobby Lobby in a few minutes to look at fabric and yarn) I still want out of here, I just have no money to go someplace that isnt here. I want to go somewhere warm, but not too warm, that's still within the continental United States, that I can get to within a day of leaving Nebraska.

I'm stuck outside and I wanna get in. Up to my waist in horse poo...
I have a light box if anyone's interested. I used to get awful SAD in the UK and would sit in front of my light. Now I'm in Oz and it's only used for viewing MRI's (rather well). Erin, is that desk STILL not ready!!! I think my mental issue is currently saying exactly what I mean. It's like tourettes. I pass people on the street and feel the urge to make a social commentary. E.g. someone spits on the floor and I have to (loudly) say eugh. Kids bike on the pavement; I have to tell them off. it's out there before I can stop it. |

I so understand your post. I am now terrified of falling on the ice. I just use one cane, and it is slippery when it gets wet. I bought one of those sharp dagger things (great description

It just all sounds like more trouble than it's worth.

![]() I've been off work for the better part of 2.5 weeks and I was SO looking forward to the time I needed to clear my head, prep for the new year and get a chance to relax. Then the walls started closing in and all my best laid plans started to look more like punishment than relaxation and I found a WHOLE NEW SLEW OF WAYS in which to procrastinate. Bleah. |
