Do you ever wonder how this disease is going to pan out down the road for you? I know some of you, like Kicker, are in mobility devices...but for those of us who are somewhat mobile, do you ever sit and think, "Hmmm, will I be walking worse in a year? Will I be able to stay in my house?"
Does it depend on the age you were dxd in how much you lose to the disease?
So many thoughts/questions run through my mind when I think of what MS has brought to my/our door.

Unfortunately, it's built in to my personality that I think about those things way too much. I try not to, but I do.

I try to stick by my mother's philosophy: Hope for the best, get ready for the worst, and take what God sends.

If the lane is wide enough, then why the heck not?

This morning as I was posting on the Insights thread about watching my nephews and niece for a few days, I started thinking how fortunate I am to be able to spend that time with them and help out my brother and SIL. If I didn't have MS, I would be working and not able to help them out like that. While there were somethings I couldn't do - like take the kids to/from school and out for an ice cream as the dizzies and driving don't work well together - we did lots of fun things together and really had a great time.

There is some good in all of this and I continually remind myself of the good that has come from having MS and for me, there has been plenty.

Have found, also, that there are advantages to having the time, and income, to fill in ways that I choose.

I'm glad I've slowed down enough to enjoy the things I used to disregard.

Just last week I was pushing my grocery cart to my car and saw a little sparrow eating part of a pretzel he had found in the parking lot. I stopped at the back of my car and watched him. He saw me but didn't fly away. He had something good and it was going to take alot to make him risk losing it.

Another shopper (a lady) walked by and asked if I was okay. Guess I looked like I was just standing there staring at nothing. I told her I was letting the bird finish his pretzel. She stood there with me and watched, too!

Pretty soon some man came by and slammed his cart into the cart corral and scared the bird away.

He missed it all......poor guy.

Shoot I am thinking about the perks to having Jim with ms. Let's see, we thought about this the other day after almost going down the ms sucks route.

Great parking, great seats, priority loading and unloading at airports, meeting people we never thought we'd ever meet, having the opportunity to do some good with what's been dealt, teaching others that MS is not the same for everyone, Jim having his own personal chauffeur, larger bathrooms at hotels. Oh yeah and great parking and seats.

Seriously.

dont forget you can short cut to the head of the line at amusement parks! just go UP the exit lane, and they put you on the ride next! no more waiting in the sun for hours. All rides have short lines now.
