I bought a can of mixed nuts yesterday and was sitting here snacking on them. There are a lot of peanuts in there. So I looked at the can and it says 50% peanuts. I then pondered . . . Has anyone ever really sat down and counted to assure the can only has 50% peanuts? Most people wouldn't and if they did, would you say they have way too much time on their hands?!?!:D

*counting 51, 52, 53, . . .* :D

:rolleyes:Put the inactivated catnip down, Kelly. No, we all don't sit and count our peanuts. But we should all sit down and count our blessings. Now pick the catnip back up and ponder that one. LOL

Does catnip calm cats down or make them more excited?

Makes them more excited. My cats start rubbing their heads on the floor when I give them a sniff of catnip. :p And you don't dare get near their claws when they're hopped up on that stuff.

Years ago, an elderly neighbor called me because she was weak and having chest pain. She would NOT call an ambulance, and asked me to take her "in".

I flew up there, all ready to go, but she wanted to take a shower first! I couldn't believe it! I was in a panic while she got herself ready.

I now understand that concept. I still think it's stupid, but I understand it. Know what I'm sayin'?

Dejibo 02-26-2010 09:10 AM

I worked as a parmedic a long time, and I was amazed by how silly some folks could be. the old ladies always wanted to have their hair done, and showered before they would go to the ER. Even in the face of a massive heart attack or stroke. Trust me, no one in the ER cares if you are having a bad hair day, or a no hair day. We care about the mechanics of it all.

btw, I buy cat nip in pellet form. its much easier to clean up when they are worn out. They sometimes eat half of it, but most of the time the leaves, and dusty stuff just makes a mess. I have a nice tree house for the kitties that garunteed for life, as long as you never rub cat nip on it. Cat nip can sour! I never knew that. then the cats dont want to go near it.

Today is my "beauty day." And trust me I am feeling anything but "beautious". On beauty day, I take care of the little things - nails, deep condition my aging dry hair and skin, etc. After I do all of this, I feel so much better and ready for the weekend. It is like washing away all the worries of the week away and starting anew.

Whenever I smell Apple Cider Vinegar it reminds me of Easter and dying Easter Eggs. :)

:p Isn't it funny how a smell can bring back memories? Every time I smell vinegar I have the same thought, Kelly - dying Easter Eggs. As a kid, we were only allowed to dye 1 or 2 eggs (with 10 kids dying eggs that was a dozen or 2). But the fun was all of us getting together like that to dye them.

My parents were really big on celebrating. We celebrated EVERYTHING! You name it was celebrated and discussed at the dinner table. So dying eggs became a celebration of sorts.

Whenever I smell Brut I think of my dad. And my grandma when I smell Gloria Vanderbuilt. I still had grandma's perfume until I gave it to mom in December. No telling where it is now but I had it for over ten years.

Debbie D 02-26-2010 02:03 PM

Old Spice...Dad...
Hai Karate...my DH when we first started dating...ooohhh those summer nights;)

barb02 02-26-2010 05:34 PM

When I was little I use to buy Old Spice for my dad every year for XMAS. My mother got Russel Stover Chocolates

Dejibo 02-26-2010 06:07 PM

what ever happened to Hai Karate?!

Debbie D 02-27-2010 02:15 PM

I think it Hai-tailed it out of the U.S.:p

I used to open DH's cologne bottles and put a touch under my nose when he was out of town...oooohhh...I would get a tingle just sniffing the air...

Debbie D 03-01-2010 10:15 PM

Most of us feel that way...it's our mother's fault for nurturing us so well...not really...we're just a bunch of spoiled babies...at least I am:o

Dejibo 03-02-2010 08:46 AM

I dont have that same air of entitlement that my sister has. I have always had a good work ethic, and never felt right about having stuff, unless I worked for it.

My sister feels that money/cigarettes/healtcare/dentalcare/oil for her house/ her house/ food/ blankets/ child care/ and the rest all should simply fall from the sky, and land in a big pile in her living room. She actually gets offended if the state doesnt offer her free programs.

We were raised by the same mom, at the same time, in the same house...how did two girls two out so different?

Debbie D 03-02-2010 09:14 AM

My sis and I are similar to you and yours, Dej...I was lucky to marry a man who has a strong ethical streak...but I also had my mom's mantra playing in my head,"Don't do anything that would make me ashamed of you."
My sis knew how to play the system well...now that she can't work anymore, she is poor as a goat and just cries so much about not having anything...before, she was making mucho bucks as a nurse (albeit lots of overtime)...then after a major heart attack she cleaned out her 401 paying for meds, etc.
My DH and I try to send her money occasionally, but she is so ashamed that she takes help from her little sis...but isn't that what fams are for? She'd do the same for us if it were reversed, I know...

SallyC 03-02-2010 10:20 AM

I'm thinking Random thoughts have gone astray.

Im wondering what torcher devise to use on my doggy's new groomer. She cut my doggy several times. Now, he won't even let me touch him. GRRRRRRRR

Kitty 03-02-2010 10:28 AM

What is my cat really thinking when she walks into the bedroom while I'm changing clothes???

Can animals snicker? :o

SallyC 03-02-2010 10:41 AM

They can and they do. :p

legzzalot 03-02-2010 11:12 AM

I am wondering why the dogs and DD are afraid of me going to the bathroom, they all line up outside of the door to make sure I make it out safely. After I lock them all out of course

Blessings2You 03-02-2010 11:28 AM

Ever have one of those days where everything sounds like lyrics to a country music song?

Didn't think so. *sigh*

Debbie D 03-02-2010 03:12 PM

Do you ever wonder how this disease is going to pan out down the road for you? I know some of you, like Kicker, are in mobility devices...but for those of us who are somewhat mobile, do you ever sit and think, "Hmmm, will I be walking worse in a year? Will I be able to stay in my house?"
Does it depend on the age you were dxd in how much you lose to the disease?
So many thoughts/questions run through my mind when I think of what MS has brought to my/our door.

Blessings2You 03-02-2010 04:17 PM

Unfortunately, it's built in to my personality that I think about those things way too much. I try not to, but I do.

I try to stick by my mother's philosophy: Hope for the best, get ready for the worst, and take what God sends.

SallyC 03-02-2010 06:39 PM

Thanks, Debbie and the answer is yes, me too.:)

Dejibo 03-02-2010 07:04 PM

I want to know if I can do the MS bike ride with a trike?

Debbie D 03-02-2010 08:06 PM

If the lane is wide enough, then why the heck not?

tkrik 03-04-2010 12:26 PM

This morning as I was posting on the Insights thread about watching my nephews and niece for a few days, I started thinking how fortunate I am to be able to spend that time with them and help out my brother and SIL. If I didn't have MS, I would be working and not able to help them out like that. While there were somethings I couldn't do - like take the kids to/from school and out for an ice cream as the dizzies and driving don't work well together - we did lots of fun things together and really had a great time.

There is some good in all of this and I continually remind myself of the good that has come from having MS and for me, there has been plenty.

FaithS 03-04-2010 12:34 PM

Have found, also, that there are advantages to having the time, and income, to fill in ways that I choose.

I'm glad I've slowed down enough to enjoy the things I used to disregard.

Just last week I was pushing my grocery cart to my car and saw a little sparrow eating part of a pretzel he had found in the parking lot. I stopped at the back of my car and watched him. He saw me but didn't fly away. He had something good and it was going to take alot to make him risk losing it.

Another shopper (a lady) walked by and asked if I was okay. Guess I looked like I was just standing there staring at nothing. I told her I was letting the bird finish his pretzel. She stood there with me and watched, too!

Pretty soon some man came by and slammed his cart into the cart corral and scared the bird away.

He missed it all......poor guy.

SandyC 03-05-2010 01:30 PM

Shoot I am thinking about the perks to having Jim with ms. Let's see, we thought about this the other day after almost going down the ms sucks route.

Great parking, great seats, priority loading and unloading at airports, meeting people we never thought we'd ever meet, having the opportunity to do some good with what's been dealt, teaching others that MS is not the same for everyone, Jim having his own personal chauffeur, larger bathrooms at hotels. Oh yeah and great parking and seats.

Seriously. :D

Dejibo 03-05-2010 01:37 PM

dont forget you can short cut to the head of the line at amusement parks! just go UP the exit lane, and they put you on the ride next! no more waiting in the sun for hours. All rides have short lines now. :D
