Default Scrapblog...it's a horrible wretched company!

2 yrs ago I signed up for scrapblog. In the beginning, they were great, although their website was slower than a snail going uphill in a hurricane.

The Army guys are putting together a shadowbox type of thing for DH2B since he is getting out. So I was asked to find the really cool picture of him standing between the Pope and Pres Bush on the White House stairs. Of course, they need this by 12:00 tomorrow. I pull out my handy dandy external hard drive and plug it in only to remember I moved the old pics to the desktop 6 months ago when I had all of the computers networked together.

Desktop has been sitting unplugged for a few months, so i go hook everything back up to it and plug it in...and my little battery has died and the computer will not boot up. Not a big deal, I will fix it sometime this weekend. In the mean time, I need this picture. I did find the scrapblog page that I made that has this pic on it, but the pic itself is tiny.

I sign into scrapblog. Go in to edit the album and like magic the picture I am looking for appears... HOWEVER, I cannot save the picture. Now how does one get their picture back from scrapblog you ask?

OH, one has to create a new scrapbook page, insert the picture, blow it up to the size they need and then one has to purchase said page back from scrapblog so that they may download it to their computer! It costs XXX credits. So to buy back my own picture, I had to purchase $5.00 worth of credits to use more than half of them on this ONE picture. I am so mad i could spit!

Back when I actually used scrapblog, you could save you pictures AND your scrapbook pages for free to your computer or you had the option of paying them to print it and put it all together in a book for you.

Oh, and PS-> they are still slower than a snail going uphill in a hurricane and it took me 30 minutes to complete this task. It also took me 3 tries to purchase the dang credits because their stupid site kept locking up, and it would kick me off before a purchase could be completed!

If you're using a Windows computer, could you have tried doing a PrtScrn (Print Screen) to do a screen cap of the photo?

PrtScrn saves the screen cap to your clipboard, and you can paste it into an image program like the Paint program that comes with Windows computers.

That's one of the reasons I hate Flash sometimes.

Other reason for hating Flash is my iPod Touch cant use Flash (stupid Apple wont let it!) so I cant use my Touch to listen to internet radio thru it's wifi connection. Frustrating!

When I have a lot of digital pictures that I want to save, I tend to make copies on disc a lot. I also have several computers, so I copy the pictures to just about all my computers and also to my parent's computers too. (with permission, so I dont use up their hard drives)

About four years ago, after my dog died, one day I suddenly decided to make copies of all the photographs that I had of him on my laptop. I dont know what made me do it, but I made like 6 copies of the disk.

Two or three days later, that laptop's hard drive crashed hard. Chewed itself up. You could hear the hard drive making crunching sounds. I've only heard that one other time when my old Tivo dvd burner's hard drive crashed. (after it's warranty expired)

How glad am I that I made that disk? Tons! A lot of the pictures on that computer were not copied to other computers, and I'd have lost them if I hadnt made those copies when I did. I miss my dog, and I'd have been totally heartbroken if I'd lost those photographs.

I lucked out on the hard drive replacement too...Computer crashed while I still had about a month or a month and a half left of warranty on the computer. I was able to ship the computer off and get a new hard drive and get the backlight in the monitor replaced AND got a new battery for it! (Yay!)

Someone apparently set the computer crash clock wrong, because usually my computers will crash about a month or two AFTER the warranty expires.

Now I think I have to go get my scanner out, and get all the actual film pictures of my dog (we got him a few years before digital cameras became affordable) and start scanning those pictures to my computer and put them on disk too. I also need to take Tiny's digital pictures and get prints made. (I'm putting pictures up on my walls after I get my room painted next month)

Sounds like quite a mess! Sorry you're having so much trouble with Scrapblogger.

I use Blogger, and have found it to be easy and fun.

Oh, I LOVE blogger. No scrapblog was a digit scrap book site that came out a few years ago. It was a really cool site that was then corrupted by the almighty buck.

Try RIGHT clicking on the picture, and saving it to YOUR computer. It may leave a copy on their server, but at least you will have a copy on your machine. Make sure to put it where you can remember where it lives.

Right click then SAVE picture as...follow the steps.

their service won't let you. it sets everything up into a flashplayer and the only way to access the materials is to pay for it. I am not complaining about hte whole $5.00 but it is just ridiculous that I had to pay them for my own picture. It's ridiculous.

Sorry you are struggling to get your photo from Scrapblog, I can help you get it if you can email directly
{*edit* contact via PM }

Also, you can still download the free version of your photo, in the upper left hand corner of the builder there is a drop down menu FILE -> Export as jpeg
that should get you what you need for free. I'm happy to help in anyway that I can.

Sincerely,
Rebecca
