Arrived today from UPS. Can't get it to recognize my router! I remember when I got my lap top I had a really hard time, same thing with my wireless printer. My very techy son in law connected our Wii to it and had no problems. Wish he didn't live in Lexington

Ut oh!
Can it "see" the router? If it can see it, and you're not connecting to it, you might have to add your Nook to the security settings. Your son-in-law may have to add the Nook's Mac address to the router to get the router to recognize your Nook. Is it the Nook, or the Nook Color??

Yes, it sees it. It's the Nook Color. I'm going to call him after The Biggest Loser. He has something downloaded on my computer that he has access to mine at his house. So I will call him. I'm anxious to see what it does!

That's usually the problem I have with accessing my router.
My b-in-law is former Air Force, and the AF taught him how to make secure passwords. So, my password is a pain in the butt to enter into anything...and it's hard to memorize for some reason. So, did you buy any books yet? What are you reading???

I'm not reading anything yet. I'm going to have to go to Barnes and Noble tomorrow. I am not consistent yet in even being able to turn it on! I push the power on and nothing happens except this screen with the big N on it. I looked at the 'bookstore' on line and there are tons of free books. I would like to order those but I don't know how to order them online and then have them appear on my Nook. It's all a learning process. I also see I'm going to have to buy a screen protecter. It's terrible on the fingerprints!

The last time I was in a Barnes & Noble, they had a lady at the Nook counter who was teaching new Nookers how to use it, so you should be able to get them to show you how to do stuff and maybe set it up if it needs setting up. (not sure if they send Nooks already registered in with your account with the store like Amazon does with the Kindle)
Dont forget to get a cover for your Nook along with the screen protector. Nooks and Kindles have delicate screens (dont believe those Kindle commercials where people are running and jumping over boulders while reading) Half the fun of having my Kindle is accessorizing it. I just buy covers for it occasionally, but some of my online Kindle friends have bought "skins" (plastic decorative covers for the body of the Kindle) and I know they make skins for the Nook too. Makes it so you can personalize your ereader a little bit.

Congrats Doydie.
I received my Kindle today too and I'm also having some problems. Allwas ok until I tried to order a book and it told me I needed a wifi connect. Well my Kindle 3g with wifi should have it all built in and ready to go. Then when I tried to fix it, my screen froze and wouldn't do anything. I went to trouble shooting and it said to reset it, that didn't help so it told me to recharge it for at least 30 minutes on AC, so that's what I'm doing now. Sheesh, I hope I didn't get a lemon.. More on the morning news..

Call Amazon's Kindle CS number 1-866-321-8851
Amazon has great customer service for the Kindle. Whenever I've had a problem, they've been able to fix it. And the one time they couldnt help me over the phone, the overnighted me a brand new Kindle. If you want to do a hard reset, hold/slide the power button and hold it for 30 seconds to a minute. (usually a minute will do it) Did you let it charge up before you used it? and a thought here...did you turn on the wireless? Pretty sure that they send the Kindles with the wireless turned off to save the battery. The kindle's battery should last nearly a month with the wireless turned off.
