Lightbulb Tattoos can be addictive

I have 2 tattoos. They are in peek a boo spots. They only show if I want them too. I don't know what your son's pain threshold is but the outline hurt like heck. I think your right that he should start out small and see if he likes it. The color may not show as he envisions it and he may decide tattoos are not for him.

A whole sleeve is a bit much and I'm not sure they do it all at once. It's a big decision to make and maybe you could bring up the topic by saying someone you know or know of is thinking of getting a rather large tattoo and ask him some questions or just voice your concerns or opinions. He could be doing something worse but you never know what biases or problems he could run into in the future with a tattooed arm.

Kitty, you're a wonderful mom and have every right to voice your opinion on this to DS...after all, you made that body he's about to mark up!!

I hate tats...I wonder if there are websites with pics of old people and how ugly their tats look on their saggy skin that you could show DS...I know a woman who is a nurse and she takes care of elderly people...she says she wants to gag at the site of these saggy tats on their old bodies as she bathes them...

Oh, good grief, Sally! He looks terrible! I always wondered what happened to tattoos when people got old and wrinkly. Guess I don't have to wonder anymore, huh?

I read this whole thread from beginning to end and am SO impressed with everyone's advice and Kitty's attitude throughout. Wow....this board can be such a wonderful place. i sometimes forget (only briefly) what a wealth of experience (and common sense) resides here.

LOL, Becca!! I was thinking along that same line......his "chest" is about a foot too low. Something I can, unfortunately, relate to.

Hee hee, kind of like the store clerk who asked the older lady her bra size, and she answered: "36 Long"

ive been thinking about getting tattoos to cover scars on my arms from when i caught a staph infection. my legs are also scarred up from my early diabetic days. the only thing really stopping me is the money and the pain involved. i am always scrimping for money and i dont like pain.

i do think your son should start out small like most others have said.

currently i have no tattoos
