I'm getting a big barking dog water bowl and some big man work boots for the porch. And a couple of small "beware of the dog" signs for the windows beside the front and back doors.

Kitty, are you a homeowner?

No, I rent but my landlord has given me permission to install whatever kind of security system I want to. Now that I have his blessings I've decided to give the DIY method a try before I spend any money.

On my street, we have 12 houses lining both sides. Articles 12 houses and people are going nuts. We always joke that if we ever had a breaking, you don't have to worry about the bad guys we would have to worry about crossfire. We frequently go out to the desert and go through a couple hundred rounds as I am going to do today. Long live our Second Amendment!!

Received my "beware of the dog" signs and have them positioned by the front and back door. I've ordered a big water bowl and a pair of used men's work boots (size 11!!). They've both been shipped so I should be receiving them any day now.

My landlord was over on Monday to install a new smoke detector and I discussed with him what I was doing in lieu of an alarm system. He thought it was a good idea. He said he was going to suggest it to another female tenant he has who is concerned about security and living alone.

My hubby is ordering some little signs to go in the back and front that say "Protected by XYZ Home Security System". He didn't remember what company they listed but I think it's a good idea and cheap too.
