Default cataract surgery Monday

I start my eye drops tomorrow. With just the one eye done a year ago there were times that I could see well enough without my glasses , in fact most of the time, that I could enjoy working on the lap top while watching TV. But it has decreased and I knew when I was wearing my readers more and more that I had to get it checked. So even though my right eye will be good after this is done, i will have to use m readers more. Maybe if I set my lap top further away it might work. But my lap is big enough that it is closer to my eyes than I would prefer!!! But hopefully my diet will help with that.

I sure do like that anesthetic though! Don't even know anything was done. Then on Thursday I start my diabetes classes But I know it will help me have more healthy eating

hi doydie

i had both my eyes done this yr. it went well and i can see distance without glasses. but, you're right. you'll need glasses or readers for close work. it's a trade off i guess but had to be done.

i'm in diabetes classes too for kidney disease now. i'll share a few things with you. will you share with me? more veggies, veggies, veggies. less carbs, sugar, salt and protein. too much of a load for the kidneys to clear.

after 63 yrs it's real hard to change these habits.

hope your surgery goes well.

Thanks Nancy. So NurseNancy is 63? Nurse Joyce(Doydie) is 62! I have had a horrible diet for a long time. I basically don't eat anything until supper. I get u-p close to 11 or noon, put about a cup of OJ in a diet orange Sunkist and nurse that until supper. I 'really enjoy' supper and then eat a bag of popcorn right before I go to bed. So the diabetic teaching staff have some magic to perform!!! As an RN I know better but you know everyone thinks something isn't going to wrong with yourself.

Good luck with the surgery...hmm-does diabetes contribute to cataract formation?

Nurses can make the worst patients. My sis was one. Morbidly obese & smoked several packs a day as well as guzzled loads of soda-until she had a near fatal heart attack. She lasted almost 9 years with a very bad heart until it just couldn't take anymore-didn't help that she'd started smoking again shortly before she died.

Yes diabetes can lead to cataracts, so can all the
solu Medrol we all take

I really have never considered myself a diabetic though. I know, bad thing. The highest blood sugar I have ever had was 133, that was the only one in the diabetes range. All of the other have been in the pre diabetic range. the highest of those was 111. So yes, I guess that is diabetic but is that high enough to cause cataracts? I am baffled. But I plan on working on it. I am 62, weighed 232. Notice I said weighed. I weigh 2 1/2 pounds less now! And that is with no excercise and no specific diet teaching. So I hope it drops more when I start my classes and really learn my diet. The main thing I am looking for is a nutritional guide to the many places we go to eat out. I am working hard in keeping DH away from fast food places. But the steak houses aren't very good either.

Procedure done and nap over. My eye itches some but I remember that from last year when I had the other eye done.
