Default any advice on using a stability ball for exersizes?

I have one here that I had one time for some back issues. I'm trying to find some easier ways to work on my things, abs and spare tire. And yes, I know that none of it is going to be easy. Just blowing up the ball is hard!!!

You have the foot pump for blowing it up don't you?

Check on YouTube for all sorts of exercises using those balls, then you can see if it is something you can do or modify if needed.

Just sitting on it with good posture and slightly rolling/rocking back and forth is good for the core and legs since they are used for the balancing and stability.

I'd have to work on my balance first, before I got on the balance bar and killed myself, I think.

I've tried them a few times but even just using them as a sitting/rocking exercise, sets off the HUG.

Maybe be extra careful with it if you are prone to abdominal spasticity and/or the HUG (I think that they may be the same thing).

With love, ERika

I was wanting a footrest tonight and dh suggested using my stability ball.
I was the right height and I found I could do some simple leg and core movements while watching tv.

I don't have MS, but do get restless legs and maybe this will be a good thing to do each evening. I find if I do a certain level of activity during the day my legs don't act up at night.

Basically sit in your favorite chair/couch and prop feet/ankles on the ball and experiment - bounce, roll forward/backward, side to side and focus on slight core contractions to work out.

this might help you out-
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/core-strength/SM00046

My PT (who has personal experience with PT & MS) suggested these to me the other day as a good beginner's set for me:

sit on the ball while:
working at computer/work
eating meals
watching TV or chatting on phone (increase time on the ball every day or so)

Just doing those 3 made me "feel it" the next morning and I didn't even think I had been working to stay sitting...
*but I did fall off my ball while eating my breakfast - it was hysterical-- me on the floor with a "what the he**" look, covered in my frosted flakes, mobbed my cats going after the milk; all while my husband asks "Honey, why did you do that?"

Doydie,

Be thee careful. I fell off the ball most times I tried to use it.

I gave it away.

Yes, I think Jo's suggestion was the best.. Sit in s sturdy chair and put your legs up on the ball and do some leg exercises.
