The first thing is to get a firm diagnosis. And go from there.

My neighbor has Parkinson's. He still goes to the laundrymat, and does his own shopping. He puts things in a napsack and uses a hiking stick.

Did I mention that he is stubborn like Mr.Doydie? Apparently it helps.

Doydie, You have received a lot of good advice. Just wanted to know that I am thinking about you and your dh.

when i was first dx'd with MS i had a lot of fears, as most people would.
over time i learned that one way to lessen my fears was to come up with a plan of action (much like in nursing). it helped me feel in control and many of my fears never came to pass.

for instance; if i fell and was single and living alone i would get one of those
"push the button for help" do hickies. it helped ease my mind.

I just wish we could get the appointment. I called the office today and they said they still didn't have the referral from our family doc. So I called them. lady who answered the phone says that they had just then put the order in. Not really sure if I believe that since I got a call from the other referral's office, for shoulder injection early this morning. So I will call again tomorrow. I want answers! Husbands answer, don't worry about it. I don't need her yet anyway. GRRRR

ya know, if drs and their families dealt with what we do they would get the urgency of our need for help and answers.

FINALLY heard from the neurologist office. Well, not exactly correct. I called them again and no, they said they hadn't recieved the referral request. So yesterday I learned a new term from the lady I talked to. So I asked her if she could look in her 'to do file'. Thankfully it was there!!!!! So I assumed since it was early afternoon that I would reiceve a call making the appointment. Nope, not the way her office handles things. It has to be processed and that will be done Monday. So I will get a call then??? They make the appointment, fax it to the referring doctor and that doctors office notifies us. So hopefully Monday or Tuesday I get a call. So that is one week from the time the referral is done before I actually get an answer.

Of course he says there is no reason to hurry this up. He says he has no increase in symptoms and it is OK to wait. Seems like I am the only one who isn't on the same page.
