Default Specialty pharm rep who spoke truthfully!

OMG. I just had very refreshing conversation with a Caremark rep who spilled her guts to me! First let me say that for some reason ALL of my life people will just open up to me in conversation like they've known me forever. I'm not quite sure why. This Caremark rep called to let me know that my first dose of Tysabri was shipping out to my infusion center today! YAY! Then she goes on to tell me that their 'system' is down again. She can't access any of my info except what she had jotted down on Friday. Just my name, phone number and the Ty info. Then she tells me she started taking notes like this because of their poor system reliability! She actually remembered some of my info because she deals with my infusion enter pretty regularly. This poor woman tells me that she's only supposed to have 300 clients but they've given her over 700 to handle because they refuse to hire any more reps. The told her if she doesn't like it to quit! At this point I said to her that maybe she should be careful about what she says because they might be monitoring her call. Then she says she just does not care anymore and that she is just going to speak the truth because she is just so sick of it all. LOL! She told me she's been with Caremark for 9 years and sometimes wishes they would just fire her! WOW. It was great to talk with someone in the business who was honest. She was put on a deadline by the company I work for (they have a new contract with my company that started January 1st) to have all of my stuff taken care of by tomorrow with or without all of my info being verified. She was supposed to make sure she had my correct b-day, soc #, address etc. all with the system being down! She had to ship it out today or the authorization process would've had to start all over AGAIN. I thanked her profusely and said if she needed to talk to call me. LOL

Joellelee - Something about this scares me !!! Now keep in mind, I paranoid anyway - but did she ask for your social security number and all that info - or did she read it off to you ???

I worry about people being who they say they are on the phone, especially when they ask for information that could actually steal your identity with.

I am sure I am being paranoid and I am not trying to scare you - but if in doubt - double check on this person...

She didn't ask me for any info. She just let me know that she couldn't access any of it. I was actually returning Caremark's phone call when I spoke with her. Don't worry, I don't give out that type of info over the phone to anyone. Thank's for watching out for me. I'm quite paranoid about that type of thing too, LOL! It's really sad to know how overwork these people are when they have to deal with getting meds out in a timely manner to people like us. No wonder there are so many mistakes made. It really makes me angry. *sigh*

Oh good - I just had a moment of fear when I first read your post LOL...
Poor girl - sounds like she just doesn't give one whit if they fire her or not - she must be so horribly overworked. I agree - it is a wonder in the world that we ever get the correct meds !!!!

One time, a long time ago, I took antibiotics for a week and got sicker and sicker. Finally had to go back to the doctor and took my bottle with me, my doctor had an absolute FIT !!! Instead of antibiotics, I was given a very strong muscle relaxer at a avery high dose - at least that explained why I became so much more lethargic and couldn't get out of bed and became sicker all at the same time !! I had near pneumonia but not quite).... My doctor flew off the handle, left the room and called the druggist in a huff !!!!

I sort of digress, but not really. LOL Normally I check my meds, but I was so sick - it didn't even occur to me that I could have received the wrong drug ! Somebody at the pharmacy was probably overworked and hurriedly looked at the script and filled it incorrectly !!!

Oh my gosh! Thank goodness they didn't give you something even worse! I know that these pharmacy errors happen pretty often from what I've read. The mail order specialty pharmacies seem to be a particular pain in the butt with not getting meds shipped out in time. Now I know why.

Back in the mid 90s when I worked for a McDonalds, the owner of my store died suddenly. Turns out that Walgreens had given him the wrong Rx. He and his son had the same name (they had III and IV at the end of their names, plus the son had his nickname in quotes on the Rx) and both had dropped off Rx's at the same time...and the pharmacist had put the son's medication in the father's bottle, and the father's meds in the son's bottle.

So, when the owner took the (wrong) medication, it triggered a fatal heart attack. It was a stupid mistake by the pharmacist. The owner's wife sued and won.

The owner of the store and his wife to this day have been the only bosses I've ever had that I truly enjoyed working for. I feel so bad for the wife and wish it had never happened. I probably would have stayed working for them for years. Even if it was just at McD's.

The wife decided to retire after her husband died and sold both of the McD's that they owned. The new owner was a complete putz and had actually told the new managers to make any of the old employees quit. (was told this after I quit by a couple of the managers after they quit) The new owner is not a nice guy, but I heard he got all of his stores taken away from him by the corporation, so karma took care of him in the end.

I'm glad the SS thing was all cleared up! I thought the same thing Snoodles...I really don't like how this whole thing is set up...they CALL you to set up deliveries and then ask YOU to verify information (address, the number they just called)....I'm still not used to that almost a year into it!

I like to have confidence in the company I do business with. That would be a severe blow to my peace of mind.

Oh Rochelle, don't be nervous! Um I take that back. I guess we have to be extra vigilant with our meds and our companies. It's a shame that those of us with already addled brains have to worry about this carp. I was glad that I got the information from the horse's mouth, so to speak. At least I know that I need to stay on top of what Caremark is doing. I'll be calling every month way ahead of time to make sure everything is on track.
