I've learned that I actually care about these people as much as any family member or 'in-person' friend.
So we've never met in person... So what? We still all know each other. Here endeth the lesson.

I learned that no matter how many times I say I need to sit down and write out postcards I just can't seem to do it. I'm such a procrastinator! I promise to have the rest mailed out soon! I also learned how I can be so much like a kid when I go to the mailbox and find something just for me! I think we need to keep this going! Susan

Koala,
I see we sent you a person in the mail; Our President! I do hope he behaved himself and didn't act like a dork!!! I saw him on the news last night trying to dance a tribal dance....of which he looked stiff and like a real duffus I was happy to hear he brought nets for the children tho! Do you use one too? Malaria sounds like it is rampant there

I learned that people are so nice and that postcards don't mail themselves!
So, I need to get busy and get three mailed out! CayoKay, thanks I got yours this weekend! Beautiful birds, didn't know they were on the endangered list. (Scarlet Macaw)

Just so you know I didn't just check out 3 of the states..................
Indiana is a state in the north central mid west, USA, and is one of the leading industrial and agricultural states in the Union. Most of Indiana has a humid continental climate, with cool winters and long, warm summers. The extreme southern part of the state is within the humid subtropical climate zone and has somewhat warmer temperatures and receives more precipitation. There are about 1,000 small natural lakes in Indiana, chiefly in the northern part of the state, the largest being Lake Wawasee. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~ Florida has the longest marine coastline of all the states after Alaska. It's climate has been called the state’s most valuable natural resource. Most of the state has a humid subtropical type of climate, but the southern tip of the peninsula has a more tropical climate. The climate attracts millions of tourists and permanent residents who seek sunshine and warmth all year, but particularly in winter. It is also important to growers of crops that are easily damaged by frost, such as citrus fruit and sugarcane. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Louisiana is a state in the southern United States, on the Gulf of Mexico and the Mississippi River. It's richly endowed with minerals, oil, natural gas, sulfur, and salt. In addition to mining, the state has flourishing agricultural, lumbering, and fishing industries. Baton Rouge is the capital of Louisiana. New Orleans is the largest city. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ There you go, and although I have more information, I'll not burden you with any more. I have had heaps of fun learning about the different places every one lives in though, but I have to agree with those who said just finding mail in their mail box that wasn't junk or a bill has been a big plus! I've also had such a lot of pleasure sending cards! I'm one of those people who get most their happiness out of being the "giver", so if any one hasn't sent me their address yet, I only have 10 cards left........................ I've also learned there are a lot of beautiful people on this site, not that I wasn't already suspecting this. I've also made another lovely friend, and that is always a wonderful bonus.

I'm afraid your president's visit didn't make our local news so I didn't even know he was here. Malaria in Australia? No GJ. There's no malaria in Australia, but I you can still find it in Papua & New Guinea........further north of us. I don't know what nets you mean . If you mean the ones that enclose a bed to keep the bugs out, we don't use (or need) those either. I think they may be necessary in areas where the malaria carrying mosquito is rife though. We tend to have more problems with Ross River Virus and such, that the mossie also carries.

I also spent time researching the places I didn't know much about. I wasn't sure exactly where Belize was or much about it. Now I know! And I know that it makes me very sad that due to man's fear of what he doesn't understand or know how to deal with with, we have animals who are extinct such as the Tasmanian Tiger. I learned that I don't want to stop sending and receiving cards because it brings a smile to my face when I find one that makes me think of someone on the board and it puts a smile on my face when I open the mailbox and pull one out that someone has sent to me when I'm not expecting it. This was a great thing to start and certainly doesn't have to end!!
I know my postcards are coming from Indiana, but I was actually born and raised in Tennessee, which is where I consider home. There are quite a few caves there too. Both of my children (grown now-28 and 29) lead a Scouting Venturing Crew who go caving a lot! This is a pic of them on one of their adventures!!

I learned that . . .
I have a lot in common with many board buddies - procrastination. LOL. I really need to rearrange my small apartment to accommodate my drafting table as my kitchen table, which is small, is not working and each evening I have to clean it all up only to pull everything out the next day. Absolutely under no circumstances should I attempt to make the cards when my hand tremors are acting up as well as when I'm cogging. I get far too frustrated and can't be creative. I need new Xacto blades and I can't cut in a straight line so I also need a T-square. There are many go getters here as they got right on their postcards. I have learned about other places in the country and that has been fun. |
