I voted "every other day" although I think I really need to explain ....

First of all I have always hated baths and preferred to shower. When I worked and was able I used to shower twice a day (morning and night). The thought of a bath grossed me out because I couldn't imagine how one could actually get clean when sitting in a tub of water with their nasty rear end. On the rare occasion that I would soak in the bath I would always get in the shower afterwards.

However ... when my health declined and I was no longer able to shower I had no choice but to give in and start taking baths.

I am disabled and no longer work. I only leave the house to go to church, the doctor and occasionally watch one of my kiddos sporting events. There are a lot of days that I don't get out of my "PJ's" (sweats and a t-shirt).

I need help in and out of the bath so hubby has to be home. Sometimes I take a bath every night - but on average I take a bath every other day.

I do wash my face twice a day no matter what and clean "other important areas" on the days that I don't take a bath.

Baths are a major chore and physically drain me .... but I do feel so much better once they are over.

Stink? I don't think so ;) At least according to my hubby - I don't stink! LOL

On a side note - I've never been a "sweater" ... until recently. Docs blame it on my meds. I recently found one of the clinical anti-perspirants. It is more expensive but I have found it to be worth it.

Thanks to all who have responded so far and shared their very personal information!

As I mentioned, I have a friend with physical problems, and it just drains her to take a bath/shower. I have the same frustration. I said to her, "Wait a minute. You don't sweat in the winter. You're all tired out after your shower, plus you pay for hot water for the shower, then more money for the hair conditioner and skin lotion because the water dries you out. Hello? How about a full shower every other day, and wash up in between?" It's working fine for her, and no, she doesn't stink!

I am experimenting with every day and a half, so it's no more than about 36 hours between full showers (spongies in between as needed). That means, for example, I shower Monday morning, Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning, Thursday evening, Saturday morning, etc. Every other day wasn't cutting it for me, especially if the "other" day was a work day.

It won't work in the sweaty days of summer, of course, and I switch to every day on occasion. And Bob says I don't stink!

It's not particularly "easy" for me, because I'm kind of a clean freak also. I've always said that my idea of luxury would be two showers a day! Maybe after I retire I will have the expendable energy for that luxury. But for now, I'm saving "spoons" where I can, and ten less showers a month is a big help.

At least once a week whether I need it or not:Grin-Nod: JUST JOKIN:wink:

Every day for me! It may not be until 3:00 in the afternoon but It gets done.:)

I never know if the shower is going to perk me up or tire me out.:D

Duva, if I learned *one* thing from my evil ex (drop-kicked him in 1984) it was the method by which the Japanese bathe.

they shower first, and soap, shampoo, scrub off really good.

THEN they take a bath.

Japanese bathing is fundamentally different to the Western concept of a bath in one crucial respect. In the West, bathers generally wash themselves in the tub. This is absolutely anathema to the Japanese, who quite rightly consider stewing in your own juices this way disgusting.

Often times, I get up, have coffee, hang out here for a bit, then start on my school work...before I know it, the day has past and I realize I did not shower. However, when I work....I shower every day.

I have been wondering about this new icky habit of mine....and guess I better start making sure I do shower every morning....I don't want to stink!! :o

There are many times I shower and exfoliate, wash hair and than get in the tub and shave my legs (I just can't do this in the shower) and wash my face and relax a bit.

I find it hard to find the energy and/or time to do this and I don't even have any small children at home!!!

Please - enlighten us - how do you find the time to do this??:) Or are you sitting in the tub at 2 AM?? :D

Julie, that's wonderful that you get some private "re-charge" bathtime alone.

I'll bet it improves your mothering too!

and kudos to your hubby for assisting in this endeavor.

somebody asked to see my accessible bathroom, so here it is:

large roll-in shower with dual showerheads, one stationary, one detachable

http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/8641/dscn4487ek6.jpg
low-flow toilet and bidet, each with grab bars - yes, I know, the grab bar on the bidet looks backwards, but that's 'cause ya face FORWARD on a bidet, lol!

http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/8932/dscn4490ky7.jpg
corner shower bench with dual grab bars

http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/196/dscn4491cb4.jpg
glass-block shower wall, and window view of jungle outside

http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/5246/dscn4488ie7.jpg
sink, and full view of glass block shower wall

it's not *quite* finished yet, needs a bit of touch-up, (we haven't moved in yet), but did have week-long houseguests stay there, and happy to report everything works!
