Default Update on my mom

Some of this is copied from a previous post.

We made a decision about my mom. My sister and I just decided to go ahead and make it since the boys are in the "whatever you want to do" mode. Thank goodness she has daughters! lol Anyway, we decided to have her apply for anything and everything and see all the doctors she needs to see. Once all that is done I will fly mom up here and keep her until after xmas. Then we will fly her back down to my sister and she will keep her until everything has gone through. This means applying for ssdi, std, state assistance and senior income assisted housing where my grandma lived. They have a one year wait list so this will work out for everyone.

By staying with me, this will give my sister and mom a break from each other and she will be able to go with us to her youngest son's wedding in September. Plus she'll spend xmas with us and her brother. So, that's the plan.

Her neurologist said she cannot work in the factory so she is stuck right now. Both of her eyes are bad, she has seizures which they think are related to going off Dilantin too early and her memory is shot and she cannot drive the rest of her life.

She is eligible for STD with insurance but after that she doesn't have insurance. So, my sister will be fighting for the SSDI and/or state assistance. Hopefully that will all be taken care of before she comes here. All of her doctors said they will help with disability. It's the best solution we can come up with right now. Please pray all goes well.

You got it Sandy. I hope everything works out for the best for you mom, you, and your family. It's tough. Take care of you and Jim.

You're a sweetheart for doing this for your Mom...she's lucky to have children who will care for her. Take care of yourself - I pray that all goes well and your Mom enjoys her new home.

Well Sandy~ I know how trying this has been for you all and being so far away has got to be very hard also. Just cherish all the time you can w/your Mother. You will never regret it, although there may be more trying times; you and I both know that there's only one Mom.

If it's any consolation, my Sis and I had to take the reins in regards to my Mother's care also, the bro's were just too "busy" to help out. I don't regret one minute spent w/her. All you can do is try.

You have my utmost respect for doing this for your Mom.

Thanks everyone. I talked with mom again and she is excited to come up here. She said that should light a match under my sister...lol They are both stubborn and in such a small house they are going to get stressed.

I also hooked mom up with storage starting Saturday. The man was so nice and promised to take care of my mom. Small world, he worked with my cousin Tommy at Boeing so we are officially kin folk! haha I am waiting for mom to call me about a rental truck. She has to talk with her helpers down there and see what day works for everyone.

You are all the best for allowing me time to vent, think this over and come to the best decision we could. This will be trying but hopefully the state and SS will see that she is in need and help out, mainly with her health insurance.

Sandy, I must've missed a whole lot lately!! I'm so sorry about what's happening with your mom! Call me if you need to vent in a more 'colorful' fashion wink, wink if ya know what I mean.
