I have literal nightmares about being somewhere and not having my cane. In my dreams, I'm walking out in the middle of nowhere and realize I left it behind.

In REAL life, I have several cheap canes. One lives in my car (His name is Loco). I have a folding cane that lives in my rolling walker. You may ask, Why a cane if you have a walker? Because sometimes you get in a tight spot where the walker won't fit, so you whip out the cane.

One thing I have to learn not to do is leave it hanging on the grocery cart. I wonder how many times I've unloaded the groceries, got in the car, and realized at the last minute that Loco was yelling "I'm still on the cart!!!"

It was just one of those things that happened. Next time, if there is one, I am going back for my cane.
Seems to me that you've just made the case for keeping one in the car, Miss Becky.

It's easier for me to keep one in the car because that way I have 1.25 hands available to carry things as I wall/car-bounce to the door of the car. Half my fleet lives in my car permanently (cane, rollator, scooter).

Becky, a friend, also with MS, and I used to enjoy going into a bar, drinking a Pepsi, and just leaving to let people see just how "drunk" we were. LOL, it amused us!

Well I personally think they were staring at your booty Miss Becky. I mean, come on, if they stared that hard they must have liked what they saw right? I say next time walk in and flip your head back and sing "I'm too sexy for my cane, too sexy for cane, so sexy yea!"

Seriously, sorry this happened. I can't walk in your shoes but can imagine it sucked to be gawked at. People are so darn ignorant these days.

I have been forgetting my cane quite a bit lately, but it is a sign to me that I need it less. Either that or I am getting more forgetful But after reading all of these posts, I think I should put a spare one in my car.

Becky, Becky, Becky...

You took the LAST french vanilla cappuccino and that is why they were staring at you. (Besides, your fly was down and your shirt was on backwards.)

*Did you you just hear that noise??? My wife...she is slapping me ouchouchouch...with my cane because of my reply!
Just for that, I am not telling her about the TP hanging out of her drawers.

It was a spur of the moment craving and I grabbed my keys and my purse and took off. I found a park right at the front door and reached over and no cane. I sat there for a minute and wondered if I should drive back home or should I try to go in without my cane.

It wasn't crowded so I decided I would just go in and get my cappuccino. Small store, short walk with just a couple of customers. I got out of the car and the cashier was staring at me and the few customers in the store were staring at me. It was so strange to see them look at me because I guess they must have thought I was drunk or on drugs.

I have used a cane for 16 years and have it with me whenever I walk out of the house. There have been a couple of times that I have forgotten it and I have always gone back for it.

I really don't notice people staring at me when I am on my cane. I get a lot of compliments about how what a cute canes I have. I have an animal print cane and a red, white and blue one.

I felt like I was doing pretty well until I realized everyone was staring at me. It was the strangest feeling to have all eyes on me. I just ignored them and paid for my cappuccino and went back home thinking, wow, what an eye opening experience to be gawked at like that.

Hi Becky!!! When I read your post it made me think about what I would have done. l would give them something to talk about...I am so naughty !! After noticing the stares I likely would have said something to the effect of "Oh Drunk I'm so God!!" Hee Hee!!!

I have only walked out a couple of times without my cane in 16 years. I usually take my cane even if I'm going through the drive thru ATM just in case of emergency. I have never had nightmares like you have. That's creepy. I don't think I have ever had a nightmare about having MS.

I guess I will buy another one next time I go to the pharmacy and leave it in my car. They have some cute ones that I have been looking at but didn't think I needed 3. When I get it, I'll describe it and we can have a contest to help me think of a cute name for it! LOL

I'm getting a new one and we are going to have a contest to pick a cute name.

OMG!!! My best friend is coming over Tuesday and we are going to lunch. I may do the drunk walk after we are through eating. She will crack up. That is so funny!

I had so many people gawking at me when I was beginning MS and still working for this very large company. I would have an episode and the company nurse would come and get me and wheel me through the building down to her station so I could lie down. I would have an episode and would have two very nice men helping me get out of the building, into the car and home. It used to make me so mad. I actually told a group of people to quit looking at me once when I was really struggling. Help me or move on!!!

It must be the cog fog getting me for me to leave the cane at the door. I don't go out much but I always have it.

It was really rude of them to stare because they didn't look so good either. It wasn't admiration by the looks on their face. It really caught me off guard at first. LOL
