Angry The Cable Company

Must be the week after a full moon or the week before schools starts (as one friend with kids pointed out to me), but a lot of service industry people sure aren't providing service lately.

Another example of below average people doing a below average job!

It turns out it's not just our household in our neighborhood, so the cable company who provides our internet service cannot blame "my" modem now.

Scenario: Monday I come home and there is a CableOne truck sitting along side the street. I make note of this. There are only 10 homes in our neighboorhood.

Starting that evening, I begin having intermittent connections problems. I call the company and they have me do the "troubleshooting" tango with my modem and report no known problems in the area. I comment on the truck in the area that afternoon of which they have no knowledge. Hmmmm.

Tuesday, same problems still occurring. I call again. We do the "troubleshooting" tango again. Same thing on Wednesday and again on Thursday night. On Thursday night, the tech schedules a service call for Friday between 8 & 5. I cancel two appts so I can be at home, and hopefully work from home (yeah right!), and by 4:45 pm, no service tech.

I call CableOne. Oh she says, he has til 7 pm. No, the call was scheduled between 8 & 5. I would not have scheduled a call til 7 as I have dinner guests. The tech and I were very clear on that point. She apologizes, could she find out where the tech is and have him come right now? No. I have dinner guests in 25 minutes. That's why the time of 8-5 was scheduled. Could he come on Saturday? No, I have to do on Saturday what I had to cancel today because I stayed home all day today waiting for the no-show Tech. And because I have no internet service, only intermittent service, I was not able to work at home. We will give you a $20 credit for the no-show, when would you like the tech to return. Monday at a specific time as I have appointments on Monday. We don't schedule appointments. It's either morning or afternoon, but we can have him call you with 30 minutes notice.

Sunday, my neighbor calls. She has no internet service. She also has CableOne. She calls one other neighbor, no internet service. Also CableOne. Been a problem since last Monday. Gee, wonder what that guy, who no one seems to know anything about, was doing here last Monday.

fixin your cable, obviously. DUH!! And he dun a gud job of it too.

Nah.... I know how frustrating this is for you.

I hate those stupid no-appointment appointments. They mess your whole day up. And they never manage to make the techs work on weekends--when normal people aren't working (ok, most normal people). I was always thankful when I had a job that I could be home during the week sometime. It really helped to get appointments like that out of the way.

I feel for ya with the frustration level. Hope they get it fixed soon!

They offered to send the tech out on Saturday, but I had appointments all day Saturday, two of which were rescheduled ones from Friday. I just couldn't afford to move appointments yet another day to wait for a tech to show up whenever he wanted to sometime between 8 & 5. I am trying to get this new Flower shop set up for opening, get ready for this trip to W-ALE-Z, and still keep my landscape clients happy. Too much on my plate at the moment to be playing games with the cable company. $20 credit doesn't even make up for what it cost me on Friday.

Because my business cards, letterhead, etc, which I have just re-ordered, have my email address on them and I can't afford to order new stock.

Overall, they are very good. I am just frustrated this week as I am in a time crunch and I can't afford this type of incompetence.

B-E-CUZ it's good for FG's brain, Shilly girl.

They should to give you a credit (or partial credit) for each day that you're not getting service properly. It IS business related too, isn't it?? You DO use your internet for business purposes, right??

And yes, W-ALE-Z will be coming soon. Think MO-HE-TOE. MO-HE-TOE, since you won't drink ALE in W-ALE-Z.

Soothing sounds...Mo-He-Toe...

Yes, I do use internet for my business. I am going to be talking to them on Monday regarding credit for the days of intermittent service. On Friday, I was speaking to an after hours tech who was located someplace other than Idaho. Utah, I believe or maybe Arizona.

come on FG get mad, get really mad and you can get this cable company to fix it.

Me thinks you need some visualization exercises.

Visualize that the girl running the cable company is that trial coordinator in the docs office
