Yeah, Laura did it! We finally got power back at 6 p.m. last night. I sure hope Sally was as lucky.

LOL, every time I see this thread I think it's a letter to Dear Abby from some weak individual who signed, "Powerless in Ohio".

LOL AMN, I was thinking "Sleepless in Seattle" when I wrote the title of the thread. It does sound like a Dear Abby thing.

The goobers at the power company are saying there are still 65,000 without power but they're hoping to have power restored by Sunday. Honestly, we were one of only 6,000 customers to get power on Thursday - each day, it's less and less. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.

Jeez! I am so glad I'm not on the Edison grid. (They're on our grid, but we have a power co-op)

Ya know, the thing that freaks me the most about that is thinking about having to eat cold spam!

The whole national grid needs an upgrade, that's for sure. A friend of mine who owned a huge campground actually had his own power plant built on site for the cost of 2-years' worth of his bills paid to the big machine.

The local electric company fought him tooth and nail to stop his project of independence and lost the fight. In the following 9 years, he never had a single brown-out or full outage and ended up saving over a million bucks for his efforts.

It would be so cool to see smaller companies come in and start placing their own systems into micro-regions that are more manageable and can get faster, more reliable service. It might even lower some people's bills!
