howdy howdy, curious whats your take on this info I got from nuero, I still get confused about Mri'S No new activity, the lesions in the spine is there still and the ones on the brain are also the same, nothing in T section of spine either, so this is good right? and my SX are my status quo, now? so the numbness tingling vision, chest pains, muscle pains spasticity and spasm's, trouble walking, and my favorite the under the skin tremors, those are cool lol and brain farts will be what i can expect on any given day?, especially if I push myself and or over do it?
Also seeing there was no new activity, i can assume it was myself and over doing it or infection or over heated that triggered my relapse this last few months, this is the part that confuses me, how could this last so long with out there being any new lesions? I also understand I have been over doing it a lot this past summer. is it better to find a new lesion and get a solid answer or my case no solid answer and some confusion, have I said in the last 5 minutes what a PITA ms is

Not sure Frank, but no new lesions etc = success as I see it!
On the relapse side, my symptoms were definitely 'flared up' during the summer. Now that it's nice and cool out, I'm feeling TONS better. Hang in there hun!

i believe you can still have MS sx's without any new activity.
altho it's good that the lesions are stable and non enhancing. it's a sad fact that MS is a progressive, non-curable disease. i think we can still have sx's because of this. if i'm wrong i hope someone will come along and correct me.

Judy and Laura thank you kindly, I am just confused cause it almost seems like I would of rather an solid answers as to why the last yr has been one thing after another, and finding no new lesions, I am back to wondering, maybe someone with a lot more MS experience or mri results, Just confused, its sort of like congratulating someone for finally getting a DX of MS, great you have an answer carp a dm its a freaked out answer to get, i guess second guessing is a pattern with being DXed and SX's with MS, again thank you
edited: ok here is something I forgot to ask nero the neuro, what was up with the right side of my body being attacked,(almost four months) its always been left side, wouldnt right side mean a new lesion or is it possible the lesion in my spinal area , was triggered bad bad memory ![]()

Frank
I was dx'd in 2001 and have had 3-4 exacerbations a year with no new lesions on my MRIs. Having said that, I entered this clinical trial for tovaxin in Jan of last year and I have had many MRIs and have no idea what they look like since then so I cannot tell you whether I have any new lesions since Jan of 2007. Just b/c you have no new activity, or no new lesions, does not mean squat. I personally think that too much weight is given to lesion load for MS disability. It's new technology and docs think that wow! look at this. We can SEE all the UBOs now so something MUST be happening. As was explained to be in plain english, there are a lot of silent areas in the brain where there are lesions that don't affect anything. You can have a whole lot of lesions in those areas of your brain and never know you have MS. All is takes is one or two lesions in the "active" areas of your brain or spinal cord and bam! You know you have MS. That's me. And I bet that's a lot of people. So, you have to look at the whole person, not just one aspect. MRIs are just new technology and just one piece of the puzzle. Lesion load is also just one piece of the puzzle. You can have 3 lesions and be more disabled that someone with 25 lesions depending on where those lesions are located. Location location location!!!

I'm confused about MRI's too, Frank. Everyone talks about active leisons, never had one.
![]() I do believe the wacky weather this summer has been hard on us. I've talked to other MS'ers in my area, and they've not had a good summer this year either. Since I had no change, I've been listing reasons why certain SX's seem to flare on certain days. LOL, I do have a few that pop up for no apparent reason. Seems like it's just a grab bag the bod picks from to keep life interesting. But I've noticed a few that are specific to certain things. Spasms happen to me when it's really humid, for instance. Take care of yourself. ![]()

Frank, Jim has no active lesions (they are dim) and no new lesions. However, he still has spasms, brain fog and the hug every so often. I think it's from the damage already done, plus active symptoms are not necessarily exacerbations. Jim still can't walk and it's from the damage. I think over doing it adds to symptoms flaring up as well. Hope that helps.
