We bag ours up and stuff it into the garage until it disintegrates

The "transfer station" is 25 miles from home. There is no trash pickup here. My truck is in a heap in my side yard. I'm not putting stinky bags of trash in my new car OR in my lovely Lincoln.

We had a deal with the woman who owns the general store. She was letting me pay a buck a bag to drop my trash in the dumpster there but people were just stuffing their trash in without paying, so she locked it down.

We don't generate that much trash anyway, and we burn all the paper and the bones from meat. We crush all the cans, cash in bottles and we compost everything that can be composted. I fill a bag every two months or so with actual trash. It's all plastic veggie bags and non recyclables. I ask the butcher to bag my bulk meat purchases in a big bag and not to use those foam trays or meat diapers or plastic wrap. We repack it all anyway when we get home.

Monday/Thursday. No formal recycling here.

Miami was twice a week too, and had an excellent recycling program.

When I lived in Brooksville, Fl it was twice a week also! Which I was so thankful for since in the middle of the summer I needed to get rid of it. Tuesday & Friday's.

We have Tuesday/Friday pickups also.

Mom is just fascinated to watch the truck pick up our can, dump the contents and put it back on the curb! Doesn't take much to entertain her.

I miss the friendly garbage guys in our old neighborhood who would jump off the truck when it stopped, dump our cans and then hop back up on the truck to the next stop.
