Thanks again Deb and I went out for some lunch after the meeting

yes its a relief for us both yes the system needs correcting, waited two years of bs appeals for a 12 minute interview and nothing has changed since i applied there hasnt been any cures for MS since 2007 so why make someone appeal 4 times to look at docs note ask a few questions and approve it, is it a matter of hoping some will just say forget it, or what. is it a mere fact that its just their formula or procedure

again thanks folks

I am glad that the waiting and anticipation is over for you.

This gov. has got to change their rules and regulations.

Myself I can't complain. When I applied for SSD I got it on the first try.

The only thing that was different my DH was put down as the payee for
me. The state dr. felt I wasn't able to take care of my personal needs and
that I would need help in handling the money.

My DS until he was 18yrs. old also got a check each month. Your
children that are under 18 will be eligiable also. I can't remember how we
applied for him. My DD was older then him.

Congratulations Frank. Social Security is starting to look at MS differently and hopefully it will be easier for people to get on disability. I used to determine social security disability for almost 15 years. It was so hard to go the process that all my clients went through. I had to ask others for help and my application wasn't totally finished. I ended up having the people at social security help me finish up all the paperwork and the person who handled my claim did some of the paperwork by phone and even talked to my husband. It was a humbling experience.

They had to send my case to Tallahassee because everyone knew me in Tampa.

It was hard to stop working (and I was even doing it from home by then and had dowgraded my work to a data entry clerk). It took a visit from a dear friend to tell me it was time.

I have no regrets, except my check is a fraction of what my salary was. It was a little hard at first, but I think back and remember how exhausted I was at the end of the day. I really had no quality of life. On top of that, I wasn't putting out the amount of work that was coming in. The hardest part has been the isolation, but my days are full (because it takes me so long to do things) and having NT has helped me through the hard times.

Default Big handshakes to Frank.

Congrats buddy! I had to go through a couple of denials from the state run DDS who never checked with my neuro. They could only quote doctors that I had seen for issues not related to MS as their basis for denial. Even when I pointed this out, they just ignored me.

I finally had to get an attorney for it. Had an ALJ hearing, and got approved.

Yes, I know it's a bittersweet victory. But in the current economic climate, I thank my lucky stars that I don't have to look for a job with everybody else these days. So, anyway, congrats again.

By the way, this thing took me about 3 years to get through. It was kind of tough to realize that I had paid into the SS system since I was 17, and have to jump through so many hoops to get there.

Congrats! And you'll get used to the idea soon enough (I did) and then you'll get used to the paperwork that streams through the mailbox.

And you'll be very happy and relieved that you went through the process and didn't give up!

Congrats again!

hey OldSteve ... I'm in the 'waiting' mode too - what should one expect with/from an ALJ hearing?? I just got a letter telling me that I'll get another letter that will have a date (20 days out) from the letter for the ALJ hearing ...

yes - I have a lawyer ... so I hope I don't have to say anything ...

thanks!!

now Frank can become that famous, published poet that we all know and love!
