Default Memories

Your post brought back so many memories of my Gram.
She could sew like a mad woman.

My uncle was getting married and I was to be a Junior Bridesmaid. Not the Flower Girl cause I was in first grade!!

We visited the Bridal Shop for Gram to see the Bridesmaid's dresses and that amazing woman came home, sat at the kitchen table with a newspaper and made a pattern for my dress.
I was only 6 but I remember that like it was yesterday.

I also remember the material was some sort of satiny stuff which spotted very easily!! It was quite a challenge for my Mom when I 'ralphed' in my lap after riding to the photographer after the wedding breakfast!! [I told them I could not ride in the back seat without getting car sick!!}

She also made the wedding gown and bridesmaid's dresses for my babysitter. She even hand sewed matching dresses for little dolls which were placed in the rear windows of the cars.

I really missed her when it came time for my wedding. My dear mother could sew very well, just not quite as amazingly as Gram.

I'm sure your DD will look amazing in her one of a kind prom dress. Hope she has a wonderful & enchanting time at her Prom.
She already has a wonderful memory of her X-tra Special Grandmom!

You definitely have to post pictures once the dress is done. What a special gift for your DD and she will always remember it.

That is so cool and the dress will be extra special b/c Grandma put her love into it. I didn't get that gene from my Mom; but I learned to throw rocks from my Dad! Does that count??

She'll be lovely in that dress Char. Can't wait to see the pics.

Oh that dress will be beautiful!! And since it is not being bought in a store, your DD won't have to worry about anyone else having the exact same dress! How sweet of your mom to do that and it's something your DD will always remember. Your mom is already making her prom very special.
