Default Question for MAFO wearers

Now that the weather is warming up, my issue with my mafo is this.
I have wonderful long thick socks that I wear under the mafo BUT the sock is definitely too warm for the upcoming warm/hot weather.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a comfortable thin long sock??
Knee high nylons would not work for me.....too warm.

Also, I do not have the thinnest calves ever created!

Any & all suggestions greatly appreciated!

Molded-Ankle-Foot Orthosis (MAFO)

The MAFO is just a simple plastic brace that is molded to exactly fit you lower leg and foot. You would use this if you have weakness in your ankle that cause you to drag your toe when you step forward (toe drop). To help this problem, the mafo supports the ankle joint.

Derrr. I have one of those in my closet.

I sweat like crazy in the summer with mine. I am still trying to figure it all out.

Default Does the MAFO really help arthritic ankle

I'm new to this site and I just found it today. My doctor says I am a good candidate for an "In-Bone Ankle replacement". However I am still working and do not have the time to take 4 weeks of complete inactivity and many weeks after that of crutches and cast. I just heard about this MAFO and I wondered if it really works and would relieve my ankle arthritus pain? Are there any negatives with it?

I use mine with "drop foot" when I cant seem to pick up my toes to keep them from scraping across doorways, and carpets. Some days its a drag foot, and some days its a drop foot.

The brace is a bit flexable, so its not horrible to wear. it doesnt completely immobilize your foot, it just keeps it in proper position. Bare skin against the plastic is sweaty, and sticky. I push a sock over it so its soft, and has a cushion. Its better if you can stick it in a boot or high ankle shoe instead of normal shoes, but will work ok with tennis shoes.

Its worth a try to avoid or postpone surgery.
