Default Saw this at a local BK today

Look closely on both sides of the SUV, and then look below the SUV. It's a crappy cellphone picture, but do you see the blue handicap emblems painted on the pavement in the parking spots on both sides of the SUV, and the yellow striped lines that the SUV is parked on top of.

and no, they dont have a placard!

My friend that I was with wanted to see a handicapped person show up and kvetch the guy out for parking in the handicap access spot.

I was half wishing that my parents were there. My mom has a wheelchair she uses in the winter when we're afraid she'll fall down on the snow and ice (She doesnt need it right now, but she's not a very stable walker anymore, and has had knee surgeries and has serious back problems) I'd have used the chair to scratch up their SUV while getting my mom into it.

Sadly, no handicapped people showed up to kvetch at the driver for being a moron.

They did see me take the photograph tho. A person at a table next to me asked why I took the picture, and I said so that I could post it on the internet, of course!

I'm going to start using my cellphone camera to take pictures again the next time I see morons parking like that.

Good grief.....it wasn't like there were no other spots available, either. The parking lot was almost empty! People can be such morons sometimes. Makes me wonder how they've made it as far as they have.

I will say (that SUV very similar to mine) often me or DH ( no memory between either of us) forget to put up plcard when we park and HAVEN'T GOTTEN A TICKET YET. Guess Handicapped Parking not high on a cop's "To-Do" list.

if I am having a bad day and need the handicap space, and there is one next to it, I will chose it over the handicap space, and save it for a wheel chair van, or someone worse off than me.

This guy was just looking for the shady spot.

It wasnt even the closest spot to the door. There were plenty of open spots right next to the door. (I dont understand why they'd put the handicap spaces four spots down from the door...that BK just re-did their parking lot)

That'd be a good question for the management of that BK.

Is there ramp access to the walkway leading to the door?

The ramp is right in front of that SUV. Brand new ramp too. The old one was crumbling and had holes growing in it.

Apparently that is the spot anyone can use while waiting for someone. See he's looking towards somewhere waiting patiently...watta jerk. Sorry I shouldn't call him that, obviously he has no clue what that spot is really for. Moron.

I just got back from that same BK (my mom was hungry) and I heard the guy in the drive thru ask the car at his window to pull into that spot and they'd bring his food out to him. (I used to work in a McD's, we called that "parking" a car, but we had designated spots for that and never used the handicap spot for that)

I was like, "wth?!".

I asked the manager about it, and they told me that no one ever uses the handicap spots. I pointed out my car with my mom's placard on it, and then pointed at my mom and her walker.

The guy they parked pulled into the same spot as the guy yesterday. (so, that's probably why that happened yesterday too)

I told the manager that's not a place to have someone wait for hot french fries. I got a little attitude back from him. I guess I'll be sending an email to Burger King Corporate later tonight once I can figure out what to say.

Maybe I'll write a letter to the local paper too. Public humiliation of a business screwing around like that sometimes can work wonders.

I just dont get it. They could have "parked" the guy waiting for his food along the curb where the drive thru lane ends. I guess the employees dont want to walk the extra 25 yards across the parking lot.

Your local news channel might be interested in this story, too. They can videotape people waiting in this handicapped spot (at BK's instruction).
