long phone calls seem to bother me more than typing - but I never was a big phone talker anyway, so that might be part of the problem-LOL.

I for real finally got my computer fixed!! yeahh!

just had to by a new main board, CPU, RAM & hard drive is all!

it's 2x faster than the old cpu -so it's a kick ***** machine now!

and it's so quiet! the other fan was soo loud!

Hope you all feel much better soon.

Hi Dolfinz, I can totally relate with you. Last year my mom had a knee replacement and I went to help her out. Ugh.. It was the worst.. Sure wasn't the mom I knew.. demanding, angrey... I was Sooo glad to come home.. I think I spent the next week in bed with a huge flare..
I'm in Ca so I can't even compare weather to back east.. But I know when it rains... Ugh... I'm not a happy camper..
I do hope your flare calms down soon.

Red, I do hope your day is going better and I hope that flare is calming down..

But on a GOOD note.. I lost a POUND... YEA.... Yea.. I can beat the Lyrica Curse...

To all.. I wish you a low pain or best of all a pain free day...

Many Hugs
Dawn

Dawn, I'm so glad to hear that it may not be RSD after all! And I'm proud of you for losing a pound, even while you're still taking the Lyrica! I can't find my scale, so I'm deluding myself into thinking I'm not gaining weight. Keep fighting! I sure hope things continue to get better!

I'm doing okay... good days and bad days... still having some of the burning and redness in my arm. I try to ignore it as much as possible. Sometimes it feels as though my bed buddy is hanging from my shoulder, which is fine as long as the weather stays cold! I have a feeling I may not appreciate him this summer, though.

Dolfinz and Red, so sorry you guys are in a flare.

Yeah, Jo, for the new computer!

Default Today I

am sorra, but I want to vent a little bit.
My mother who helps me so much with all "handwork" (houskeeping,....) was diagnosed with carpaltunnelsyndrom. She only has the sleeping hands at night and does not suffer during the day or is not handicaped with the everyday work.
But the problem is, that it can progress.
So I am looking in the internet about informations to the topic.

Imagine if we are both hand-icaped.....

I know there will be a solution and my mom is a type of woman who is not so sensible and she will be ok soon.

Thank you, I feel better now - sorry for venting.
I wish you a painfree weekend.
Barbara

Hi Barb,
Have you found any info on carpal tunnel yet?
Did they give her wrist braces to wear at rest and at night?

it's best to not wear them while doing activities - it will strain other areas trying to work around the splint.

Sorehand is the first place I found when I had RSI {repetitive strain injury}
there are other good links listed on the site too.
http://www.ucsf.edu/sorehand/
Sharon Butler posts there - quite a few of her posts in 2003/04
archives are search able
or her site www.selfcare4rsi.com

I don't know if she would consider supplements?
Grape seed extract
MSM
A good womens multiple
Cal/Mag blend

am starting to get very excited for my spring break vacation....and got me a fanny pack so maybe, just maybe, i can carry at least my own stuff when I go hiking (we'll be doing some of that on vacation...we're going camping)

Edelweiss- I have the greatest splints for sleeping...
Pil- o splints, very comfy, easy to get on and off...i love them dearly and when my wrists are hurting they can help me feel a lot better even if I sleep in them for just a few nights:

look at them here

I hope your mom feels better soon...yes it would be very difficult to have you both out of commission!!!

Dawn- Fingers and toes crossed that you do not have RSD....
How are you overall, BTW...having met you right before surgery..do you feel significantly better? I sure hope so.

Red and Dolfinz....sure hope your flares calm down... (one for each of you!!!)

Have a great weekend everyone.

Johanna

Default Today I..

thank Jo and Johanna for the ideas and the infos to help with carpaltunnelsyndrom. I printed it for my mom, and she can decide what she wants to do.
A very interesting thing I found out: in the german and austrian homepages in the internet I read that CTS is not due to computer work - and in the english text it is always computer related. So what believe????
She takes vitamine B1, B6 and B12 and will start physio with ionophorese and a hydroelectric bath for the arms. And in 8 weeks she will have a ENG/EMG again.
So we will see....
@jo: what does MSM mean? I don`t know it and I didn`t find a explication in the internet.

I hope that all members of the TOS family spent a nice and agreable weekend.
Have a good start in a new week!

MSM info-

[MSM
MSM is simply an acronym for methylsulfonylmethane, a dietary source of sulfur that naturally supports the immune system and plays a major role in the formation of enzymes and hormones that control body activities. ]
