Confused Scared and frustrated

This thoracic outlet syndrome can be very frustrating. Apparently my son is a triple crush. He has been in physiotherapy since July. Wrist is improved but elbow and shoulder compression unrelieved. They decided his radial nerve is just "jacked" up. They tried ultrasound on his forearm and it put his hand into a palsy. Now know it is TOS. Surgery to be done in Nov. but doctors are still trying to figure out his first rib. First rib is coming out at c7 instead of below. Don't believe it is a cervical rib just 1st rib positioned wrong. Now taking full chest x-ray to count all ribs to make sure. Blah, blah, blah. Every time we go to the doctor it is something different. Just want him to feel better. He is only sixteen and can't even drive because he can't keep his arm up to drive. At least we are in Louisville so have the best hand and arm surgeons in the world. Just wish we knew what to expect and if this will actually work.
