Hello every one, I am having a Angio gram on Monday I was wondering how many people have had one.

And also I was wondering if any one has any problems with any one taking your blood pressure I do!!! they can't hear anything on the left side at all., And on the right side its very very fant I have high blood pressure and its very difficalt to tell how accurit it realy is. How ever when they do the dopper on my arms it still shows compression on both sides still after 3 surgerys on the rleft side and
2 surgerys on the right side... I don't now just wondering.????

I now I need surgery again but Dr. Thompson wont do it because its to reseceii (sp) the last surgery I had Dr.T accidentaly cut in to the subclavian artery several times because if all the scar tissue from my prevouse surgerys

I don't no what to do.??? So thats why the Docs ordering a Angio Gram.

If you're just getting clearance for an operation you might consider having an epidural instead. If they're concerned about blockage then I'd get it done.

I can't stand to have my blood pressure taken either. Luckily I no longer have have HBP so they don't bother me much about it.

I am curious though as to why my blood pressure is different in one arm then in the other something like this:

RT ARM 98/60 LT ARM 100/60

I have had two angiograms. They aren't scarey at all. They will put the tube in your hip or groin to check for cornary artery disease. I wasn't put to sleep for mine. I got to watch on the screen what they were doing and the Dr. explained what was going on as he did it.

It's been a few years since I had my last one so I can't remember it too well but it didn't take long at all.

Mine was done due to chest pain. I do have some CAD but it wasn't really bad. Now I am trying to get my cholestral down because my Mom died of a heart attack and stroke.

Also, the nurses all have trouble taking my pulse. My right side is the hardest to get it even though I have had TOS surgery. My Dr. usually ends up taking it.

it sounds like you have been through a lot. I was just wondering how many surgeries you have had for the TOS? It sounds like you've had a few.

I'm sorry you are going through so much. The Angio isn't that bad so don't panic. Most hospitals will show a film also to show you how they do the angio. I chose not to watch it, that would have scared me more.

My angiogram was fairly uneventful. I had it done in a couple of years ago prior to my surgery to determine how much blockage I had in my subclavian artery and the vein. They injected a dye by IV that they had put in my arm.

After injecting the dye they then took the x-rays immediately following the dye injection to determine where the blood was going through and where the blockage was.

They injected the dye many times then took many x-rays as they had me going in to many provocative positions during the veinogram.

This was instructed by my vascular surgeon as he was well aware of the TOS diagnosis. It did not hurt at all the only part that hurt was when they put me into the provocative positions i.e. the superman pose with your arms above your head we all know how difficult it is to lift her arms up that high it took me a little bit of time to get into the position, but it was fairly uneventful. I would say nothing to worry about

On a scale of one to 10 for fear, this is about a 2. And always remember this statement........

Education is the key to lack of fear so long as you know what you're going in for then you shouldn't be afraid. I would suggest going on to a site like Web MD, and reading through what they do during a veinogram so that you're well aware of what's going to happen!
