Hey guys,
I know a few of you have mentioned your experiences in others threads but just wondering if anyone knows any good links on TOS/cervical ribs and cognitive problems? Is it possible or does it seem to usually be as a side effect of medications used to treat TOS? |

I wouldn't have thought cognitive problems would be a big issue. I suppose possible causes could be side effects of meds (eg, neuropathic pain meds such as pregbalin, amitriptyline, carbamezepine or opiods etc) , lack of sleep, stress, concurrent cervical spondylosis causing vertigo.

I suppose it is not well reported.
I think certain meds can have a big effect on cog fog, as well as other dx's like fibromyalgia (fibro fog). I was on no pain meds - only Ibuprofen types for pain as needed - my only rx was lipitor ( possibly a co factor). I only mentioned it to my doctor as a "this is also happening" thing. Mine was a work comp claim so sure didn't want them thing I was going crazy or something. I didn't really want to tell her how much it was concerning me - that I was really beginning to feel like I had begun to feel like I had severe ADD & even early onset Alzheimer's for awhile early on. ![]() I felt really out of it for awhile... Totally lost the ability to multi task, even crowds or multiple conversations distracted me, could say the words I was thinking of or couldn't think of the word I wanted to say.. it was crazy weird...

if there's any vascular involvement, look up subclavian steal syndrome and vertebral-basilar insufficiency. Can mess you up big-time.

I have stopped going to the hairdressers because as soon as I lay back in the sink I feel like I might faint and my right arm goes entirely numb. Similar thing happens at the dentist when I have been laid back in the chair for some time - I have to come up to sitting very slowly or I black out. Jo*mar - thanks ![]() |
