@darren

This comment is not TOS exactly driven, but I notice ALOT of razor burn/rash on this photo. Staph is usually the organism in shaving reactions, so you may have enlarged lymph nodes as a result.

I'd get that rash taken care of, before it gets any worse. There are RX shaving creams with benzoyl peroxide which help some.

Also just to let you know the small bump that I felt has gone but the larger 'inflamed' area remains and still feels quite odd, almost as if somebody has got their hands around it and squeezing it. It doesn't feel like a lump as such, it's more of a fiberous tendon that goes from my neck to underneath the collar. I noticed that just below it there is a vein that if I keep pushed in with my finger it seems to pump up the vein a little which runs down the side of my neck.

Here's the first photo to show what I mean. The red line shows the vein and the blue line is the tendon thing which I don't know what it is, feels strange and is nowhere near as big as on my left side (I can barely feel it on my left).

btw, another symptom of my tos is that if i stand and keep my arms dangling by my sides they become discoloured, below is a photo of my right arm after about 40 seconds of it dangling. It also happens in my left hand but not as much.

Are you sure the blue line isn't the bottom branch of your scm?

http://www.pressurepointer.com/SCM_trigger_points.htm

My left SCM has been so tight in the past that it felt like a steel cable. With it came circulation problems; primarily dizziness. Upon getting it to relax, the circulation problems dissipated.

My chiro and PT have both done myofascial release/stretching which was helpful. I also have to monitor myself for muscle tension and release it.

I also have reduced flow in my left external jugular vein. (My left is my symptomatic side.) No one has explained that one to me and I find it disturbing.

I have the hand discoloration thing too, although I have it all the time. My symptoms do get worse with my arm down, so when I walk or stand, I always have my hand in my pocket or propped on something.

I also have some edema above my collar bones, but much more on my symptomatic side.

I know that at least some of my problems come from a tight pec minor. I think I also have oversized upper traps in relation to neighboring muscles which may leave less room for the subclavian artery.

Btw the book "It's not carpal tunnel syndrome" states that one of the signs of TOS is that the collar bone is not visibly well defined due to the pec and shoulder muscles being tight. Looks like you have that.

HTH.

OMG you sound like me! Just that I actually feel worse post op!
I know that my pec minor is problematic on my operated side because when I attempt to draw my neck inwards..... a physio exercise recommended to correct posture/ neck alignment, I experience a strong pull in the region above my breast/side of armpit region.
I had mentioned this to consultants and surgeon post op but it was not taken on board??????? Pride on their side maybe....????????? don't won't to be told what is troublesome by the patient? whatever!!!! One thing that is clearly evident on myself is that my collarbones seem in general to look very thick compared to the average female of my body frame, I am not over large.. an English size 10-12 probably US 2-3????? But my collarbones look thick/strong. Has any other females small-medium frame with TOS noticed this?
