Hi TOS folk, hope you are all well ( as well as can be that is).
Any tips or advice re: pulsatile tinnitus??? OMG I'm sick of this pulsing hum/whirling sound in my left ear!!!!!!!!!! I'm thinking that its been triggered since my op (first rib excision -A/VTOS on right side). Its going well on the right side at the moment and it appears that my blood flow has resumed..... I will not know for sure the results until I have my follow up with my surgeon in 2 weeks. I still have a venous occlusion prob on my left side ( where I am experiencing the pulsing). I'm just wondering if I'm getting the pulsing because the left side is struggling with the extra flow??????? Any thoughts? Has anyone had bilateral V/ATOS issues and experienced this worse AFTER surgery? ![]() SD38 ![]() |

I had what I called "whooshing" sounds early on, and it was really bad during the severe spasms.
The only doc that told me what it was ,a bruit, was my chiro... I'm just guessing that you still have some neck muscle tightness and it is pressing a bit on the arteries and causing that lovely annoying sound. But just my guess... If you are getting PT or anything ask the person about it maybe they can do some therapy for those specific muscles. Have to be careful with self care in those places , don't want to press or stretch on the wrong thing....a pro is much safer for these areas. I will describe how chiro treated my issues during the severe spasms. may or may not work for everyone though.. A good PT should know how to do this technique also. He more or less "hooked" or anchored his thumbs in my scalenes and then worked on the SCM after scalenes. He applied a firm slow steady downward pressure for about 30-40 seconds, and repeated in next section til the full muscle was worked on. He also did similar with the heel of his hand right below my collarbones and over upper chest. Was not enough pressure to hurt at all , mainly stretching/releasing the muscle & fascia I believe.

![]() I'll have a look at bruit info. You're probably right about it possibly due to muscle tightness. It just reinforces the fact that I have to keep working on my neck stretches religiously each day. No sooner as I lapse with them so the tightness creeps right on in there! Thanks for your support....AGAIN!!!!!! ![]() Best wishes, SD38 ![]() Last edited by SD38; 10-06-2011 at 02:20 AM. Reason: spellings |
