Burning sensation is generally nerve pain/parasthesia.

Nortriptyline (Pamelor) and Cymbalta are anti-depressants but have beeen found to provide pain relief in low doses (much lower than the anti-depressant dose).

The studies as well as my experience show that the combination of a nerve med and one of these low dose anti-depressants give greater pain relief than either alone.

How do nerve glides work for anyone? my pt only gave me one to try and that one exacerbates my shoulder. Is there a good site for them?

Nerve glides don't work for me either, I wonder why? and I wish they did work!

Gabapentin is like a nerve med as it used for patients with fibromylgia kind of pain. It helps us as TOS patients mainly if you have nerve pain ( it helps with irritated nerves). It kind of takes the edge off as someone mentioned and helps us go around our chores and tasks, but it does not do it all.

The other thing I forgot mention was if you avoid looking down, it really helps with the neck pain. If you read, read with your kindle/mag/newspaper on a stand like the musicians do. ( cheap alternative for a kindle or book is a brochure holder ) A lap top is much better than a Ipad, so you limit your looking down too much. Helps me a lot.

Nerve glides didn't really help me prior to surgery, but I am seeing positive benefit on my post-surgical side now.

Stos, I do have a laptop,definately much better than a mouse, but I still get sore typing. What is the best way ergonomically to type with a laptop?I am ususally sitting on a couch . when I try to use it at a table, I get sore right away. I think I'll try to put it on phone books. I also am trying to type with my left hand. I definately need help with ergonomics!

I got a new laptop after Christmas, it my back up & important papers/files machine -, so I only use it once in awhile.

But it has built in mic & voice recognition with Win 7.
You can also plug in a mic to use the VR.
Getting it set up didn't take very long and you can do quite a bit of things with voice instead of mouse or touch pad.

I think Vista has the VR available too.

And Mac has a similar thing, I can't recall the name of it though. ispeak??

Part of it is laptops have a narrower/smaller keyboard so putting wrists closer together in front of you usually rotates elbows out and shoulder rotate in.
usually not a good position of most of us.
I have to use a separate mouse for comfort with my laptop - touch pad is not that great for me.

viewing height/angles w/ laptops.. tough part is getting it so you aren't looking down too much, but can still type or touch pad in comfort... trial and error thing. experiment to see what works for your situation.

My desktop is my main and most ergo set up.
