There are many different causes of TOS. Postural correction doesn't always equal TOS healing. TOS can cause bad posture.

I would be more willing to try if first session was free or discounted, not $250!
Hi, I'm the clinic director at the Egoscue clinic in Austin, TX. Saw this thread pop up on google alerts, wanted to throw one thing out there. To the point above, there actually IS a guarantee that Egoscue is worth the expense. All clinics have a 100% unconditional money back guarantee policy. So, for example, if someone buys an 8-visit package and 10 months later calls us up and says "you're nice people, you tried to help me but I just didn't get any better and I'd like my money back", then we'll cut them a check for the full amount and put it in the mail.

If you go in for a first visit and at the end of it think it wasn't helpful and you don't wish to continue, you can leave without paying.

I started as a client years back after a near fatal auto accident. Went from 70 mph to 0 in less than a second, broke several verterbrae in my spine, had severe inflammation in my chest that created strong thoracic outlet-type symptoms. If I turned my head to the side, for example, I didn't just get a weaker pulse in that wrist, the pulse completely disappeared. Massive symptoms in the arms, back, neck, etc... Was in PT 6 days a week for almost 2 years and was told I'd never run or play tennis again. Fast forward 6 years later and I'm almost crippled. Found Pete's clinic in Del Mar (we lived in Thousand Oaks at the time) and started making the drive there every other week, and a year later I was running and playing tennis again, pain free. I started in 1999 when I was 37. I'll be 52 in a couple of days and just played tennis last night for 2 hours, high level singles. No pain. I don't even want to think where I'd be without Egoscue.

Also, if you're not physically near a clinic, any clinic can help you via Skype. We do therapy that way with people all over the world.

If anyone has questions about Egoscue or the way our therapy works, I'd be happy to answer them to the best of my ability. Or if you have questions about how to utilize the books, I'm happy to help there, too. I'm not trying to sell anyone on getting into a clinic, just wanted y'all to know there is the guarantee policy, and that physical location isn't a limitation to getting therapy.

TOS is a bear. I wish you all well on your healing journeys.

I had the scalene release surgery almost 3 months ago. My vascular surgeon here in Seattle Dr. Johansen and his assistant Dr. Francisco are amazing. I have PT with Greg at Issaquah of Rehabilitation and follow up appointments with Dr. Hatzakis who has been with me from the beginning 6 years ago. I have hope back. This is painful and mentally it's draining. You need a good doctor you can trust. Fortunately Dr. Hatzakis is one who led me in the right direction. It's important to look into every means of getting well. Be careful, some technics can cause harm too.

Mark and positive
REALLY glad to hear you are both doing well. That is indeed good news!!
Healing happens when it's supposed to

Dis- ease does not happen in a vacuum or to a body part.
I am a big proponent of system healing rather than symptom healing.

Good luck to all on your journey's

Peace and metta

Hi thanks for your post. I am thinking about trying it, but I get flared up easily when I overstrech or do pilates etc. I live near the Santa Monica one. Do you have someone you recommend there for TOS ?
Do they take any insurance? Do you have to buy a package? Thanks-JKL

His books have very low key passive self help corrections. I think their website used to have more of the self help info, but it has changed content.

Might be some vids on youtube
I appreciate this approach, but I've also learned unique things from having 3rd party, objective experts examine me. Whether it was Paul Methot, Joyce Wilkinson, Art Ando or Nathen Horst, I've always learned new things about my body and/or treatments from in-person appointments.

I stumbled around for quite awhile with drs & PTs thinking mine was only multiple RSI's, so I did many searches only on RSIs, tendinitis & tendinosis , until a sorehand poster mentioned TOS & the sx of it.

Then I had a whole new thing , plus all the overlapping conditions to search on and sort out..
Then I found the TOS forums and it all began to fit.

I did luck out with some pretty good PTs early on, for the most part , and then the really good chiropractor. So that is probably why self care has worked for me. I was able to quit my job that was causing the injuries, so that alone is a big help.

Thanks for the information. I am currently having Lymphatic drainage work and it's so helpful. It truly makes me feel better for up to a week. Sleep is my biggest challenge. Why does TOS make it difficult to impossible to lie flat. I have been sleeping sitting up for 5-maybe more years now. I thought scalene surgery would change this however it hasn't.
