Did any of you who have had TOS surgery have your SCM divided????

I wonder what would be the reason for it, an anomaly of some sort?
I don't recall seeing any posts mentioning SCM /surgery..

I was told by my surgeon I had anterior scalene and most of middle scalene removed.
I started having severe spasms in the sternoclastoid muscle and pain where the tendon connects to clavicle 6 mos postop. I'm 1 yr postop now and still have this pain. Its worse by end of day, some days worse than others.
Why are u asking this?

Asking because SCM is sometimes involved in TOS. It is absolutely involved in CTNVS/CTOS (google it). Some surgeons divide the SCM instead of ohmyhoid (sp?). If you read the surgery protocol you will see that some do that.

Rhonda, did your surgeon explain WHY you would be having that pain now????? That sounds terrible. I have my surgery consult on Nov. 12th.

Never heard this bf. Saw surgeon mid Sept. He says I have Pec minor s, but that this doesn't cause neck pain. After my last surgery he said the scalenes were so fibrous like a sharp knife, the worst hes ever seen. I think this is why he took out most of middle scalene too. I read Pec m can cause neck pain.
idk maybe scm is working overtime cuz other muscles are gone.
What's ctnvs/ ctos stand for?

CCSVI is simliar, yes but CTOS = Cerebral Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

CTNVS = cerebral thoracic neurovascular syndrome

there is a lot more out there on this, and yes, Jo, there is a correlation to CCSVI.
