ok can we discuss 'the girls' ?
LinJane and I have as many of you may know as we have been doing it in today i....so I thought I would start this thread to see what we all do to help with the bra slippage issue when straps come off the shoulder and comfort!!

if you can find it, there is a strap that goes on the back of your straps to keep them together or hide them in a dress.....so if you can find that it just pulls the straps together at the back and it should help to keep them on the shoulder....

I can't spend that much money on the bras....I won't go over 35 or 40 dollars as I don't know how long I will need them...hoping to gain weight...DH would like that as well...he thinks I am anorexic looking....anyhow bras.....so gone from a nice full B to a small A....ahhhhhh

so it sucks!!!!!!!

I have gone strapless. Just can't handle the straps anymore, and I've always been small. I don't even wear a bra except to church, Dr's, nice restaurants, my daughters' schools or such - either my traps or my ribs will revolt after a couple of hours and it just isn't worth it!

I could go with an A but went up to a B so the band around my chest isn't tight - not much pull, I can breathe and no pressure on ribs. This means the cups are a little big, but I can just pull the band farther down in back to make the cups fit better, and that works even better for my ribcage. Plus some of them have a little lift and padding so on the rare occasion I feel up to it, I actually can manage to look pretty good for a 45-yr-old TOSer ( LOOK being the keyword, sad but true).

May not work for you - but it's the best option I've found, and the bras -variuos brands- have generally been in the $20-30 range at Famous-Barr (now Macy's).

Funny story, when my pec minor incision was infected, and FINALLY a surgeon here agreed to open it and clean it out, 10 weeks post-op, it was a hand surgeon who is certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery. When I entered the ER and climbed onto the table, one of his nurses asked if I was there to get breast implants. I hadn't realized he did those too, but I'm sure that's where the money is. I told her I had NO desire for more weight on my chest.

Dr. Togut had told me to get a corset(?). I understand the reasoning but I do not need one. I think strapless is probably the way to go for me. When I am home I just try not to wear one. Dr. Togut's concern was the weight being pulled down in the front of your chest. Since 4 children and losing weight, that is really not a concern. When I was a teenager I wanted a bigger chest, now I am thrilled I didn't get it, my sisters did.

VictoriaI keep readjusting the strap so I'll have to see about the strap you mentioned. It's going to be that or strapless. Maybe pasties!!(not sure of spelling).

Have to say my answer has been sports bras. Certainly not sexy but comfortable. Been using a DKNY one that is comfy and great support.

God I wish I was an A cup.

Sports bras are very comfortable but I have a hard time getting them over my head. Putting them on hurts too much. I never thought I would feel lucky for having a small cup size but I do. When my sister was in high school she used to fail typing tests because her chest hit the keys. In the 1970's you weren't aloud to back space and erase so she made alot of errors. Not me!! Linda

I saw strap tamers on an invention show I sometimes like to watch. (not that competition show).

It must be inexpensive; it is simply a modified paper clip & safety pin --at least that is what the inventor stated her initial idea was. Here is the link.

Ok here is my take on this we should have been built like the doll that if you swing the arm one way the girls grow big and the other way they grow small just think how much easier life would be. All women would be happy because if they wonted to look sexy in that little black dress a few swings of the arm and bingo or if you wont to go jogging with out the girls hitting you in the face a few swings the other way no problem. Well maybe not we could end up in more pain our men would be swing our arms all the time. Any way to get a little more real here what if you get a bigger bra and pad or try a water bra i don't know if that would help with the strap from falling but i was just thinking about (i am sorry brain fart ) the one who said she boughs a bigger bra size. I have the problem with being to big i am a 38DD now this did not bother me before i got tos and really was not a issue until the past year i can't wait to get home the first thing off when i walk though the door is the shoulder bolder holder. It hurts around the ribs and the strap on the shoulder and yes i do wear the proper size the straps don't leave any marks but i guess its the weight on my shoulder. So this is my question to yous i have to go to my doctor this Thursday and of cores i can not wear my bra because of the surgery any ideas on how to cover the fact i do not have a bra on. I am praying to the weather gods to give me a cool enough day that i can wear my big hoodie to cover it up but if it is warm i am at a lost. Trust me not a very nice sight to see me with out a bra well i don't think any one who has big girls should go with out.

How about a giant ace bandage? premedication with something that takes away the embarassment? Maybe watch Barbara Streisand in that movie where she has to hide the fact that she's a woman while you are laying low and recovering.-ok, I didn't mean that seriously.

this begs the question since we have had several ask about breast reduction surgery. if a TOSer is going to have both reduction surgery and some form of scalene/rib/pec surgery would it be advisable to have the reduction first? And how long do wmn usually have to go braless post TOS surgeries??

I haven't been able to wear a bra for almost 1 year because of severe rib pain. I don't even care anymore lol. Pain free is the way to go!! When I go to the doctor I just wear a black tank top and tell em I can't wear bras. As far as a corset......NO WAY..I have worn those doing civil war reenactments a few years ago. Talk about compression!!! hehe.

What about those tank tops with the extra layer built in and then a over shirt {cottony type- buttoned or unbuttoned}.
That's what I wear on hot summer days when I need to go to town or appts.
