Default my new job and my tos.....

hi all!....well i have had a bit of a shocker with my new job - perhaps a little niavely, i didnt realise that children with severe autism can also be fairly violent - i found this out with my second day with the kids today when one girl took a disliking to me telling her off and starting slapping me - VERY hard around the face, head and my arm (which i had put up to protect my eyes and face!). Thankfully it was my good side, im noticing a little more pain in my neck than usual on my bad side but im sure more after effects will be along shortly.

apparently there is one boy who is more violent on his way next week as well so i think im quite rightly concerned about my tos - if im hit in the wrong place, or my arm is yanked or something like that (which may never happen!) then i could be in serious probs!

hoping i can be switched to a diff department where the less severe children are but the school are not looking to be very sympathetic to those with probs like mine!.

FED UP!!!!
Hope everyone else is well...
xx

I'm sorry to hear that Tracy - such a demanding job is bound to = wear and tear on your arms.

I discovered last weekend, I can't even defend myself against a jumping puppy. pathetic.

Hi Tracy, I hope you can get switched to a different department, because it sounds like this job will be to much for you. A job that will literally beat you up. Take care and all the best

Hi, thanks for all your responses!. Was feeling quite low yesterday and needed to put it out there to people who can 100% appreciate my situation!

Working in a school as a teaching assistant is literally the only job that i can do so im desperate to try and keep hold off it!. As long as i am careful with the way i sit etc then its usually mangeable.

I spoke to the deputy head (what u would call vice principal) who was very sympathetic and said that my health comes first and that she would speak to the head master asap to consider switching me to a calmer class.....fingers crossed!

Thanks again - wishing everyone a lovely weekend - it will be a VERY wet one over in the UK
