Default no such law

wikipedia lists only OR & WA in the US for assisted suicide. sometimes painkillers hasten the end, called passive euthanasia. dad refused the tube thru the nose for sm. so far she has not vomited, but we shined the flashlight and found dried vomit in her mouth. cleaned it up with a sponge. we have a suction machine to vacuum spit now. she now has bedsores on back and one side so we have propped her up on her one good side so she does not gurgle on her spit. we have conflicting info on whether to give her atropine to dry up the mouth. doc says no but nurse recommends it. we are giving the maximum prescribed dose of morphine & lorazepam.

fmla was denied and they gave me 2 days to have doc correct the forms. i requested an administrative review which may give me 14 days. consequently i was gone when nurse & doc came. i heard the nurse changed the bandage and sm got violent again. she was relatively calm when i did it so maybe she can tell us apart. dad says she was moving her arms wildly and he was afraid she was going to break them.

back to bed, last nite i had insomnia. g'nite and thanks friends.

Default almost midnite fluids starting to come up

dad has decided not to put sm thru the tube thru the nose procedure to drain the stomach - calls it extraordinary measures. doc said she would be able to vomit even if she was in a coma. i think he is wrong. she is now drooling very dark green. i woke dad and he is sitting vigil with the vacuum pump. we think she is unconscious tho she is moaning. the only delivery method for the meds we have is under the tongue. i questioned how much she would get with the vacuum going and with most of it running out the side with the drool and asked for something injectable in her pic line. they refused. it's almost like they want to shove the extraordinary measures down our throat.

Unhappy

tied, SM has the RIGHT to refuse extraordinary measures. Tell them that. If she has a living will, it would give the Dr's 'legal permission' to stop these measures and provide morphine in suppository form. However, next of kin can verbally give permission.

This is just the Dr's and staff covering their a$$es.

if she's draining green stuff from her stomach and they are not giving any liquids, and not pumping out her stomach, she's got less than 3 days. When dad passed this was exactly the same chain of events.

It was a horrible scenario to watch play out.

try to get some sleep if you can tied. I'm so sorry for you and your dad.

It won't be long, my friend.

I tried to attach a favorite comforting song. "Angels Calling at my Door" by Kenny and Amanda Smith.

I hope you can retrieve this.

My heart, thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am so sorry for your families loss and sm struggle. I am sure others may find your sharing of the experiance helpful in preventing such lack of support for their loved one.

Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know that are happy. Author Unknown

There is one more star shinning in Heaven tonight,
