Almost going in 2Months through my PCS, (concussion came back a month later) i think im doing a lot better but annoyed at the same time on how long this has been and really has effected my life. Before at first I had a killer migraine for about a month, trouble sleeping and got around 4 hours every night, black dots in vision, no appetite, spaced out. body weakness.
now i have my appetite back, sleeping normally ( thank god ) and still spaced out. this thing thats bothering me is muscle weakness especially on my left side but it has gotten a lot better exercising a few times a week. my neuro says its clear for me to lift weights again but take it easy... still have black dots but it's slow decreasing. i also noticed its gotten a lot worse for me to concentrate on school and paying attention and remembering things what do you guys think? is this a good progress? how close am i to getting better? what do i do lol just venting... It is virtually impossible to gauge "good" progress. You are the only one who can attest to how you feel, and how far you've come. In my opinion, I think it is too early for you to start lifting weights. The fact that you're having difficulty concentrating on school, paying attention, and remembering things indicates to me that you should be resting, not exerting yourself. All the best to you with your progress. Trust me when I know the feeling of "this is taking way to freaking long". I've suffered 18 months of PCS symptoms but am well on my way to freedom. Hang in there. ![]() |

Great to hear you have improved.
Nobody can say how close you are to getting better. Your delayed onset of concentration difficulties and memory problems is common. Your brain has finally settled its mind about which brain cells to decommission for poor performance. These damaged brain cells struggled to continue functioning but eventually the surrounding cells shut them down for, as I said, Poor performance. Now, your brain needs to reorganize around those shut down cells. This can take time. The axons reconnect very randomly with a trial and error process. This causes a variability in the time-line to recovery. Rather than get caught up with worry about the recovery time-line, try to do the best with your current functions. Keep stress low. Keep working at improving your sleep. REM sleep is when your neurons and axons can heal. Have you had any therapy to help with your neck? The left side weakness is most likely a neck issue. Keep in touch. Success stories are far and few between. My best to you.

I'm not sure if what you're experiencing the same thing, but I had lots of tension in my neck over the course of my recovery. I found that massages helped (mainly from my mother thankfully). I also tried massage therapy and chiropractic and I found them to give me some temporary relief.

yes i also have a small tension on the right side of my neck, could body weakness on my left side mainly be because of it or lack of lifting weights i did for 5months straight then stopping since then? |

As the old song goes, the head bone is connected to the neck bone. Any impact to the head has an impact on the neck. A neck can feel sore on the right but cause symptoms on the left.
Ask your mom to help you get it checked out.
