tamisue,
Check out the referral available from https://www.womensinternational.com/..._referral.html I am not saying all are as good as my wife's RNP but worth a try. We have plenty of friends of all ages who have benefited from getting good hormone balance. My wife pushed me to getting hormone analysis and it makes a difference for me, too. My best to you.

I had my most recent doctor's visit last week and he has put me off until next year. He has put in a request to let me see a neurologist and for me to start PT. He said that I'm looking good on the outside and I stopped him right there. I told him that I might look good on the outside, but it's still hell for me on the inside and I started crying...

Cody,
It sounds like your "Really good attorney" is leaving you out in the cold. He should be going to bat for you. You should not have to deal with all of the roadblocks by yourself. Even really good attorneys often do not understand concussion. They do best with injuries that are visible or imageable or can be assessed by range of motion and strength testing. As Dr Phil says, "How's that (attorney) working for you?" You need better help and advice. Your doctor and attorney both need to watch the "You Look Great" videos on YouTube. Have you watched them? All six of them? You say you won your case back in July? Did your attorney have you sign a final claim/settlement release? Has FedEx been 'off the hook' since then? Work Comp is intended to stay with you until you have returned to the work-force or been retrained for another job. Signing a settlement release before finishing your rehabilitation/healing can be problematic, unless FedEx has agreed to continue paying until you are fully rehabbed. Is your doctor still the Industrial Doctor? Do you have medical insurance coverage to see your own doctor?

FedEx appealed the latest ruling.
I haven't signed anything since this whole or deal. I've watched the "You look great videos" and I had my parents watch them as well. I just want this all to end. The concussion symptoms and dealing with FedEx, I just all want it to end. |

Cody,
I understand your frustration. The PCS is tough enough to deal with without the added stress of Work Comp issues. Unfortunately, there are no quick ways to resolve your PCS. It takes time and rest. Regarding your intense head aches. Try asking your doctor for some blood pressure lowering medication. When you get the intense head aches, BP meds may help to lower your BP and resolve the head ache. At least, it does for me. My best to you.

It's been a while since I've been on here.
FedEx's latest appeal was denied and I was finally able to go and see a Neurologist yesterday after 9 months (My lawyer is not very happy with FedEx right now though b/c they lied to him) That's where the excitement stopped. He was having me do very basic tests and I struggled doing them and I had to stop numerous times b/c of how bad my headache would get. He's putting a order in for a MRI and he suspended my license for 6 months as well b/c I have lost consciousness in the past 3 months. He wants to keep me off work for a lot longer as well. The sad part of what he told me is that in my case, is that it may take up to 3 years to be fully recovered. It's been almost 1 year now. If it wasn't for my family, girlfriend, friends, my lawyer, and this place I would be in a dark place right now... |

Cody,
Your Neurologist sounds better than most but not as good as the best. His three year recovery prognosis is not based on any valid research or such. He was right in suspending your license. Six months may be a bit long but it is better to be safe than sorry. I speak from experience. I have restricted my driving many times over the past 10 years. Every time I need to go somewhere, I need to stop and seriously consider my condition. Many times, I have to wait 'til my wife can drive me. I have had too many close calls. I went almost 2 years without any driving at one point. It can be miserable to not have the mobility driving affords but I'd rather pout up with that than have to live with the memory of hurting or killing someone because my brain failed me. We have had two deaths locally over the past few years due to brain impairments that were not drug or alcohol related. I think one did prison time, the other was banished from ever driving again with a very long probation. One thing your Neurologist alluded to is important. The 3 years to full recovery should instead be a concern for how much recovery you can attain. Most of your recovery from here on will be based on you input. You need to understand your symptoms so you can properly relate them to doctors and treatment specialists. The TBI Survival Guide at www.tbiguide.com is a good place to start. Understanding the ins and out of how you are functioning and feeling is important. Your family and girlfriend also need to understand these things so they can contribute their observations. Have you kept any kind of journal? It is a good idea to do so. Jot down the hows and whens of different symptoms and also anything you did before that symptoms, including the day before. You will eventually start to recognize patterns and common triggers. Getting a good recovery and proper Work Comp settlement will depend a lot on how well you understand your condition. Understanding your symptoms will also be the first step toward learning work-arounds and other accommodations and coping strategies so you can get back to a full life. Let us know what common road blocks you run up against in your daily life. Somebody here has likely run up against the same and learned a way around that road block. My best to you.

not being able to drive blows, but hurting someone because you drove with an impairment blows worse. I was restricted for several months. It is a huge inconvenience, but better that than someone else ending up on this page because of something we did.
Hang in there Cody. You will see improvement. My favorite and most hated quote..."It just takes time." |
