Went to see PT therapist today. Had been a month since my last visit to this PT. She wanted to wait a month to see if BPPV would resolve on its own. As is pretty typical with me...of course not. It's been three months, no change, and she is out of ideas. She is going to talk to a couple of colleagues to see if they can come up with anything (she is the go to person in the hospital/rehab place I was seen). Wants to talk to someone at Duke that does her training. Wants me to talk to neurologist tomorrow as well to see if she might recommend ENT/audiologist.
If I ever meet the guy that rear-ended me...I'm kicking him right square in his gluteus. HARD! Does anyone else have severe reactions to vertigo? I get clammy and sweat horribly, nauseous and throw up, weak to the point someone has to walk with me to my ride, not to mention the room doing things rooms shouldn't do unless you have had LOTS of alcohol. After the procedures to help with the BPPV, I'm out for hours. It kicks my butt that bad. |

Is your PT doing the Epley maneuver?
A specialist I saw wanted me to practice putting my head between my knees and then sitting back up, over and over, to desensitize the inner ear. She just did not get ti.

Neurologist appt went well. I guess as well as they go. I am allowed to drive again!!!! Will be making an appt with ENT and audiologist for the bppv. She did prescribe me something to help get to sleep. Said that I looked better than my last appt. Going for a follow-up CT scan on Thurs morn. I'm sure that it won't show anything, but for my peace of mind she agreed. Said that I will (hopefully) continue to improve. Might never get back to 100%, but that's where I'm aiming. Said that it was good that I recognized that I was down-it would be a problem if I didn't acknowledge it. All in all-a good appt. I celebrated by buying a car!

Hi everybody! I'm 24 years old, I have Cerebral Palsy and use crutches to walk, I also have GAD and I'm emetophobic. About 6 or so weeks ago, I started getting pounding headaches and dizzy spells, I thought they were related to a change in my birth control, so I switched to my previous method. The dizzy spells got worse and the headache progressed to a migraine (which run in my family, I've been getting them since age 8) and vomiting. Being emetophobic and having GAD I was having panic attacks on top of feeling terribly ill. I went to the ER where they diagnosed me with BPPV, gave me a month's supply of Imitrex, plus about 20 zofran and sent me on my way. Still feeling ill, I went to an ENT last Thursday who performed the Epley on me, with seemingly no success. I'm in the process of getting a new primary care doctor, and hope to get that set up within the next two weeks and then returning to the ENT if need be. The ENT thinks I may either have BPPV or Migraine Associated Vertigo. I'm taking magnesium and dramamine and I'm going to eat only migraine safe foods for the next 3 weeks, but I'm exhausted. I lost out on an internship I was working on because of this and I'm behind on my grad school work, I can't even do things like clean or shower every day, I just have to wait and see how I feel every day and go from there. Any advice/suggestions?
